I’m Lazy But Want to Look Good—These 12 Party Outfits Are Perfect

In my head, my party season look is a cross between Liberace, Celine Dion and Diana Ross—iconic, entertainer, full-on extra ensembles that leave everyone else in the shade. In reality, that kind of vibe doesn’t work for the Christmas do in the canteen or down the pub with mates, so the outfits need to be dialled down accordingly. Yes, there will still be sparkle but it might come in the slightly more understated form of a sequined skirt with a grey cashmere knit or a pair of decorative earrings set against a simple, minimalistic bustier and jeans combination. As much as I dream of swooping in wearing a feather cape and bejewelled suit with sky-high heels, the truth is you’ll probably find me in a classic party dress with tights, modestly mid-height heels and a red lip...

I’ve Found My Perfect Party Dress (and It’s From Marks and Spencer)

I ordered it at the end of October; a beautiful navy-blue satin dress with a refined high neckline and pretty puff sleeves. I slipped it on—how flattering! I added sparkly shoes—how glam! Admittedly, I was smug. I’d found the perfect party dress at Marks and Spencer, and knowing how much you all love an M&S find, I was beyond excited to share it with you. By the time I’d taken my obligatory outfit snaps, however, it had all but sold out, save for incredibly low stock levels in a couple of sizes.  Fast-forward to December, and the dress has been almost untraceable since—as we speak, it currently has the most stock I’ve seen since I bought it, so if you love it as much as I do, click quick. Still, hope is not lost, for the brand has just released a new gold lamé it...

I’ve Assembled 6 Expensive-Looking Festive Outfits Entirely From M&S

We’re nearing the end of 2022, which means our calendars are filling up with Christmas bashes, candlelit get-togethers and festive dinner parties. Pass the mulled wine, please. I don’t know about you, but I consider partywear to be one of the most exciting fashion categories. It’s always nice to depart from one’s everyday uniform (for me, that’s jeans and a jumper) to get a little more dressed up. That being said, I’m often reluctant to spend a lot of money on going-out attire; I prefer to invest in items I’ll wear regularly, and I always keep to a strict budget on the partywear front to ensure I don’t overspend. This is what led me to Marks and Spencer‘s website, where I was pleasantly surprised by the wealth of stylish pieces on offer...

My Mum Is 54, and I’m 33—We’d Both Wear These Party Dresses

Highlighted hair, a penchant for espresso martinis, mitochondrial DNA; these are just a few of the many things my mother and I share. I spent my formative years in what felt like the midst of a permanent eye-roll when people would ask if we were sisters (something which, as I get older, we’re asked less and less. I’ll try not to dwell on that fact). The point I’m trying to make while procrastinating? We’re similar—very similar—in looks and taste, and that extends to our wardrobes.  Almost every time I go to buy something, I pause, send a quick snap to my mum and ask, “do you already have this?”. More often than not, if she doesn’t have the exact piece, she’ll have something similar. And vice versa. Off the top of my head, items we&#...

Zara’s Just Had a Party-Dress Delivery—These 26 Are Worth Your Time

While some fashion trends seem to change like the wind, you simply cannot beat the timeless appeal of a killer party dress. Everyone can remember a moment in their lives when they felt like a million bucks, and more often than not, this memory tends to include a showstopping frock. Now that we find ourselves in December, suddenly, that big outfit decision is looking pretty imminent. That’s where we come in. We noticed that Zara was looking particularly chic in the party-dress area, and as a necessary public service, we thought we’d do a curated edit of our favourite looks. While a few trends are featured (such as slip dresses and leopard print), we’ve purposefully picked dresses that will survive the season and serve you for years to come. Our party-dressing&nbs...

11 Party Trends Instagram’s Best-Dressed Are Already Wearing

Who’s ready to party? Some might think it too early to begin discussing party season and all the fanciful fashion that comes with it, but if my 12-year-long career in the fashion industry has taught me anything, it’s that the best party pieces sell out fast. In fact, I spotted a midnight-blue velvet minidress complete with a beautifully fitted bodice and full skirt just a few days before the end of October, and when I went to buy it after being paid on November 1, it was gone. Lesson learnt. I hope you, too, learn from this experience—life is too short to let excellent clothes pass you by. In honour of the velvet dress that never was, I’ve poured my energy into unearthing—by way of Instagram—the best party trends of 2022, handpicking fabulous...
