Jamiu Abiola: MKO, Kudirat died in vain if Nigeria’s democracy collapses
Getty Images Son of Chief MKO Abiola, winner of the 1993 presidential election, Alhaji Jamiu Abiola has floated a foundation named after his mother, Alhaja Kudirat Abiola to work for peace and unity of Nigeria in the face of agitations for secession. Jamiu Abiola said it would mean that his parents, Alhaja Kudirat and Chief MKO Abiola died in vain if Nigeria or its democracy collapse. Commissioners urge partners to support ongoing efforts to ensure security in schools
The Commissioners of Education in the 19 Northern States have urged development partners to support the ongoing efforts to ensure security in schools. The commissioners made the call in a communique issued in Kaduna on Wednesday, at the end of a meeting on Students Exchange Programme (SEP), held in Kano. The communique was signed by the Chairman, Shehu Muhammad, who is also the Commissioner of Education, Kaduna State. The meeting was organised to discuss pressing issues affecting education in the region. Christian Eriksen managed to speak to his Denmark team-mates from hospital after his on-field collapse, according to Danish FU (Football Union) director of football Peter Moller. Google Photos adds locked folder for private images
Google is introducing a new feature to Google Photos that lets you hide specific pictures so they won’t show up in your photo feed or in other apps. The feature, called Locked Folder, will put whatever sensitive pictures you’d rather not share behind a password. In its I/O presentation, Google used the example of parents trying to keep a puppy purchase secret from their kids — though the feature should be useful for any sensitive images that you don’t want to share with others. Delta: Man apprehended for stabbing 15-year old girl
A middle-aged man has been arrested by the Police in Asaba, the Delta State capital for allegedly stabbing a 15-year old girl, Omelagu Chidinma at the neck region, below her lower jaw for reportedly refusing his love advances. The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders has expressed delight over the recent re-organisation in the Nigeria Police Force. The group, an umbrella body of youth organisations in the zone, described the measure as “a step in the right direction”. Lagos: Seven die in auto crash on Lekki-Epe Express road
At least seven people have been confirmed dead in an accident that occurred on Saturday afternoon at the Lekki-Epe Express Road, Lagos. The crash involved a Lexus SUV with registration number: AGL953GQ, which ran into a moving Howo truck with registration number ICT-15E-025, killing all occupants in the Lexus SUV. A total of seven adults, comprising two males, five female, lost their lives in the crash. The Lagos Sector Commander of The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Corps Commander Olusegun Ogungbemide, confirmed the death in a statement.
