<span class="localtime" data-ltformat="F j, Y | g:ia" data-lttime="2021-04-08T20:45:46+00:00“>April 8, 2021 | 4:45pm ET In late 2020, Cher made a herculean effort to move “the world’s loneliest elephant” to a sanctuary in Cambodia. Her animal rights work became the subject of a documentary, Cher & The Loneliest Elephant, which you can preview via the trailer below. The documentary follows the singer as she travels to Pakistan to oversee the relocation of the elephant, named Kaavan, who became known as the “world’s loneliest elephant” after his partner Saheli died in 2012. Kaavan, who was a gift from the government of Sri Lanka to the head of the Pakistani army 35 years ago, had become increasingly lonely and depressed while spending over a dozen yea...
Two episodes of SpongeBob SquarePants have been removed from Paramount+ for content that Nickelodeon has deemed inappropriate. One is an episode about a “panty raid” involving Mr. Krabs, and another is about a dangerous flu outbreak that involves a quarantine scenario. The beloved kids cartoon is one of the big-ticket items on the new streaming service that launched earlier this month, but apparently the catalog that they’re framing as comprehensive is missing a couple items. The more glaring of the two is a notable season three episode in which Mr. Krabs tries to reignite his youthful spark by spending an evening with SpongeBob and Patrick Star. After a few boring activities that feel more like chores than fun to the middle-age restaurant owner, the boys suggest a “panty raid”: ...
The Pitch: It’s another SpongeBob movie—what do you need, a road map? Actually, maybe: This newest adventure is an underwater road trip, with SpongeBob (Tom Kenny) and his starfish pal Patrick (Bill Faggerbake) on a mission to save Gary, SpongeBob’s beloved pet snail, who’s being used as part of a skincare regimen for King Poseidon (Matt Berry). This snailnapping was engineered by the scheming Plankton (Mr. Lawrence), who wants SpongeBob to stop (inadvertently) interfering with his plans to ruin the Krusty Krab, the restaurant where SpongeBob happily toils away. There are also two different robot assistants, one amusingly voiced by Awkafina. A Brand New Sponge: This is the third SpongeBob film, following 2004’s The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie and 2015’s The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of W...
Halloween is nowhere near, but horror fans are still being gifted one of those king-sized treats today. A sequel to Paranormal Activity and a prequel to Pet Sematary are in the works and are set to debut on the new streaming service Paramount+. The platform, which was officially unveiled to investors earlier today, is ViacomCBS’ rebranding of its unsuccessful streaming service CBS All Access, and the company is clearly trying to get off on the right foot with viewers who yearn for a good scare. Both of these clicks are being developed by Paramount’s division Paramount Players, which intends to deliver four to six films to Paramount+ each year (via Variety). The studio hasn’t provided much information about the films themselves, but they’re calling the seventh edition of the ...
During a TCA event on Wednesday, ViacomCBS unveiled some of the exclusive titles coming to its new streaming platform Paramount+ in the near future. On the comedy front, the streamer is reviving both Reno 911! and Beavis and Butt-Head for new movies. Following a six season run on Comedy Central between 2003 and 2009, Reno 911! was revived by Quibi for a seventh season in 2020. Paramount+’s upcoming revival is billed as a “super-sized event” titled Reno 911! The Hunt for QAnon. As for Beavis and Butt-Head, the upcoming untitled movie will serve as a precursor to a series revival set to air on Comedy Central. This will be the second Beavis and Butt-Head movie, following 1996’s Beavis and Butt-Head Do America. Paramount+, a rebranding of ViacomCBS’ CBS All Access platform,...
When CBS All Access rebrands itself as Paramount+ next month, it will come with a slew of new content for music fans. At the ViacomCBS’s TCA presentation on Wednesday, it was announced the platform will be a home to reboots of classic MTV and VH1 franchises as well as a new docu-series from Dave Grohl and his mom, Virginia Hanlon Grohl. The Grohls’ series is based on Mama Grohl’s 2017 book From Cradle to Stage: Stories from the Mothers Who Rocked and Raised Rock Stars, taking the name From Cradle to Stage. The book featured interviews with rock stars’ moms about raising their little hell-raisers, and the six-part docu-series will further explore those relationships. Each episode will center on a single famous artist and their mother, with Dave and Virginia along for the ride. Paramount+ wi...
After three years spent on hold, a reboot of Frasier is finally coming to air. Via The Hollywood Reporter, star Kelsey Grammer will be reprising his role in a sequel series on Paramount+. Grammer has been pushing a revival since at least 2018. But the salad remained untossed and the eggs unscrambled until earlier this month, when reports surfaced that Grammer and CBS/VIacom had joined together at the negotiating table. On Wednesday, ViacomCBS finally announced the reboot as a go. Grammer sounds understandably excited about returning to the role he first originated on Cheers in 1984. “Having spent over 20 years of my creative life on the Paramount lot, both producing shows and performing in several, I’d like to congratulate Paramount+ on its entry into the streaming world,” he said. “I...
As part of its kids and family programming, Paramount+ is rebooting two iconic children’s TV series: Rugrats and The Fairly OddParents. The original Rugrats voice cast is set to return for an all new CG-animated series set to air in 2021. That includes E.G. Daily (Tommy), Nancy Cartwright (Chuckie), Cheryl Chase (Angelica), Cree Summer (Susie), and Kath Soucie (Phil and Lil). Rugrats originally ran on Nickelodeon for nine seasons between 1991 and 2004. The show also spawned several theatrical films, TV movies, and a spin-off series called Rugrats All Grown Up!. A new live-action/CGI hybrid film had initially been announced by Paramount Pictures, but those plans will ultimately abandoned in favor of an episodic series on Paramount +. Perhaps more intriguing is the return of The Fairly ...
