Hayley Williams Rips Former Paramore Bandmate Over Homophobic Comments

Paramore singer Hayley Williams hasn’t been afraid to speak up in the past, so it should come as no surprise that she didn’t mince words when it came to a former bandmate. In a post that had been circulating on Facebook, ex-Paramore guitarist Josh Farro made homophobic comments that compared homosexuality to pedophilia. Williams didn’t take too kindly to hearing about that. In a post of her own, the singer ripped the guitarist, who left the band in 2010. “there’s a reason there are only 3 people left in @paramore,” she said in a tweet. “surprise, haters, it ain’t cause of me. paramore do not condone religiously/politically dogmatic beliefs which leave our LGBTQ+ friends, fans, & family feeling abandoned and hopeless.” You can see the full thread with Williams’ comments below. and ya kn...

Hayley Williams to Release Petals for Armor: Self-Serenades EP

Hayley Williams released her first solo album, Petals for Armor, earlier this year. With 2020 taking twists and turns all over the place, it makes sense that the Paramore singer threw a curveball of her own: a new EP. Titled Petals for Armor: Self-Serenades, the three-song collection will feature a pair of acoustic songs and an unreleased tune titled “Find Me Here.” Williams announced the news of her new EP on Instagram on Tuesday. “survived 2020 thanks to self-serenades 🌺,” she said. Also this year, Williams ranked her favorite Paramore songs, covered Radiohead and a whole lot more. The EP is out on Dec. 18. Preorder Self-Serenades here. Check out the tracklisting below. 1. Simmer (Acoustic)2. Why We Ever (Acoustic)3. Find Me Here You Deserve to Make Money Even When...

Paramore Stops Selling ‘Say Their Names’ Poster After Receiving Backlash

The members of Paramore have been quite active in the Black Lives Matter movement following George Floyd’s death in May. Singer Hayley Williams has marched alongside protestors and handed off her Instagram account to a group of teenage activists, while the band donated $25,000 across three organizations that fight for racial justice and against police brutality. However, one of their calls to action was something that didn’t sit well with fans. After a fan recreated Paramore’s Riot! album art to display names of police brutality victims, the band printed it as a poster for purchase with proceeds benefiting NAACP and Color of Change. Though well-intentioned, fans were not pleased with the message it sent and responded to the since-deleted Twitter announcement with concerns about the po...

Hayley Williams Shares Behind-the-Scenes Video for ‘Sugar on the Rim’

Hayley Williams’ Petals for Armor, which was released in May, is one of our favorite albums of the year. Despite having to cancel her the tour for her first solo album, Williams has seemingly remained upbeat in the face of upheaval. The Paramore singer shared a new behind-the-scenes video for “Sugar on the Rim,” which sees her at work in the studio and also relaxing while at home doing things like noshing on mango sorbet, reading lyrics on her laptop and catching some shut-eye. The footage for the song was compiled over different nights and takes ahead of quarantine. In addition to being one of our favorite albums of the year so far, a bunch of the Petals for Armor songs made our list of the 25 best Hayley Williams songs. Check out the video below. The 101 Best Albums of the 2010s

Why now? Because — and there’s no reason to ignore the elephant in the room: SPIN stewardship has changed hands many, many times since we made the online jump — we got our chance. Because plenty of our favorite albums of the last 10 years could still use a boost. Because some of the already unanimously beloved music on this list still merits further praise. Because we relish excuses to sound off on the music that’s affected us the most and to enlist some of our favorite writers to do so. Because the works of art below serve as a reminder that the 2010s weren’t all bad. Because lord knows we need the distraction. Because it’s fun. There’s a lot of music that isn’t on this list. Which, duh, but plenty of artists whose work defined the decade for many, many people, including many of us, ...

The 25 Best Hayley Williams Songs

I wish it was a bigger compliment to call Hayley Williams the best thing to happen to arena-rock in the last decade and a half. But even if you like Kings of Leon (I do), or listen to entire Killers albums (they have their moments, but really, see them live), there’s just not too much competition. The 1975 get more critical than commercial love, and the interesting paths they’re taking aren’t usually rock ones. Even more than them, Billie Eilish opens up a lot of questions about what rock actually is. And I’ll leave Imagine Dragons and Twenty One Pilots for other people to defend. I don’t think it’s a contest. Immensely popular, likable, empathetic, and astoundingly musically adaptable, Paramore’s frontwoman started out as the class of the emo kids and ended up stealing the show on a Loret...
