Flume is living the post-Palaces good life, enjoying the comedown of yet another critically acclaimed album release. He’s hanging out with his dog, surfing as much as possible, and living off-grid in a house with its own solar panel and water tank, according to a recent interview with NME. Oh, and he’s also sitting on “a full album’s worth of house music” just waiting to be finished off, he revealed. Flume also implied that the unreleased cuts are leftovers from when he was developing the creative vision for Palaces. “I mean I’ve got a full album’s worth of house music that’s just sitting there that I just need to finish off,” Flume said. “I’ve got loads of demos, some of them have got strong parts for sure. After months of singles and teasers, Flume has finally delivered his hotly-anticipated third studio album, Palaces, via Future Classic. Palaces is a groundbreaking album that expands Flume’s influences to even deeper reaches of electronic music. He’s taken his signature experimental sound and perfected it, leading to some of the best music he’s written to date. It’s an LP that speaks to his vision and project as a whole, giving listeners a taste of exactly who Flume is even if they’ve never listened to anything else in his discography. Opening with high energy on “Highest Building” featuring Oklou, the track sets the pace for the rest of the album. Emotions run high throughout, as the vocals and varied collection of sounds help steer the ...
It’s full-speed ahead for Flume. The Australian electronic music master is about to hit the road, and he’s gearing up for Palaces, his third studio album. But first, he unveils the music video for “Sirens,” the second release from it. Directed by Daniel Askill (Sia, Lady Gaga, Paul McCartney), the “Sirens” video reaches deep into dreamland. Askill keeps the camera trained on vocalist-turned-siren Caroline Polachek, who drops in from the heavens to check on Flume, who’s out of sorts on a fantasy island. Once again, the producer is kitted-out in his motorbike leathers and helmet, hanging in a space that could be Gollum’s cave if the Extreme Makeover team got involved. “This amazing track by Flume and Caroline inspired us to create a film that hovers at the intersection of nature and te...
Flume has dropped the next breadcrumb on the trail to Palaces, his long-awaited third studio album. After revealing the album via its hypnotic lead single, “Say Nothing” (with MAY-A), he’s now joined forces with indie pop songstress Caroline Polachek for a haunting cut called “Sirens.” The track was co-written and produced by Danny L Harle, whose single “On A Mountain” received a glitchy remix from Flume back in August 2021. If the second single from Palaces is any indication, Flume is hellbent on the growth of his artistry. While the celestial “Sirens” has hints of his fluttery future bass sound of yesteryear, it’s emblematic of another leap forward into new sonic territory for the Grammy-winning electronic music virtuo...
Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Lagos State, has concluded plans to create additional 4,861 polling units in the state. The Commission’s Resident Electoral Commissioner in Lagos State, Sam Olumekun, who announced this at the Election Stakeholders’ forum on Monday, held in Ikeja, explained that the move became necessary to tackle the usual voter apathy and boost voter access to polling units in exercising their fundamental rights to vote. The forum was part of sensitization and public enlightenment of Stakeholders by the commission towards engendering active participation in future election exercises. He stated: “Polling Units are central to the electoral process and therefore democracy at large. Voter access to Polling Units is at the very heart of representative democracy...
