‘Wow’, ‘Absolute steal’: Some Leicester City fans react to exciting transfer update

A section of Leicester City fans have reacted positively to the anticipated arrival of defender Ozan Kabak from Schalke. The Turkey international spent the second half of last season on loan with Liverpool, and he made a good impression. He had a horrendous debut against the Foxes but sorted himself and played his part in the club’s strong finish to the campaign. Despite this, the Reds decided against triggering a buy option worth £18 million and ended up signing RB Leipzig’s Ibrahima Konate. The Foxes are now on the cusp of landing the 21-year-old for just £8m, and the news has been received positively by some fans. Twitter reactions: Ozan #Kabak, an absolute steal for £8m Another quality centre back who will only improve under Kolo #Toure & #Brendan.Hope there are no hitche...

Liverpool have alternative plans lined up as ‘nothing has been decided yet’ on £34m target

Liverpool may well drop the idea of signing Ibrahima Konate in the summer.  The Athletic reported last month that the RB Leipzig defender is heading towards Liverpool this summer. Popular football journalists David Ornstein and Fabrizio Romano both have claimed that Konate is likely to join the Merseyside club, with the Reds already lining up a deal for him. RB Leipzig sporting director, Markus Krosche, claimed last month that Konate won’t be sold in the summer transfer window, but they could be powerless to prevent him from leaving if any potential suitor activates his release clause which is around £34.15 million (€40m). It has been claimed that Liverpool currently in the process of finalising a deal for him, as bolstering the defence in the summer...

Liverpool complete loan deal for Schalke defender

Liverpool have completed the deadline-day signing of Ozan Kabak from Schalke, subject to international clearance. The 20-year-old defender will move to Anfield on loan until the end of the season, with the Reds having the option to make the move permanent in the summer for a fee of £18 million ($25m). Kabak, a Turkey international who moved to Schalke from Stuttgart in 2019, will be the first of two signings on a busy day on Merseyside. He will be joined by Preston centre-back Ben Davies, who finalised his switch earlier on Monday. Goal understands that Liverpool will pay an initial loan fee of around £1m ($1.4m) for Kabak, while the deal for Davies could be worth in excess of £1.6m, should all performance-related add-ons be triggered. The Reds had been insistent that it would be a quiet w...

Scout Report: Ozan Kabak is not just a short-term stopgap – he could prove to be a stellar long-term signing for Liverpool

The second deadline day defender that Liverpool are set to sign is Ozan Kabak, with Preston’s Ben Davies being the first. The Reds are reportedly set to pay Schalke a £2.5 million loan fee with an option to buy for £20m in the summer, with the Royal Blues looking to recruit Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi as his replacement. Liverpool have reached an agreement over personal terms with Ozan Kabak. Report: What sources close to £22m ace now think after Liverpool made contact in Nov

Jamie Carragher suggested last week that Liverpool could struggle to retain their Premiership title if they don’t sign a centre-back in January. However, the club senior figures – who are responsible for transfer dealings – aren’t interested in taking short-term measures. The Reds would rather stick to the philosophy that earned them so much success in recruitment in recent years, and wait for the right player at the right price. According to reports from the Athletic, Liverpool reached out for Ozan Kabak in November. The club made contact with intermediaries representing the Schalke defender. Surprisingly, after those initial talks, Liverpool didn’t show enough interest and finally opted not to pursue a deal for the Turkish defender. He is valued at around £22 million (€25m) whi...

AC Milan want Liverpool target Ozan Kabak in January

Serie A giants AC Milan are looking to bolster their defence this summer, and have earmarked Ozan Kabak as their prime target for the January transfer window, according to reports from Gazzetta Dello Sport (h/t The Daily Mail).  The 20-year-old centre-back has been a revelation for Schalke and has established himself as one of the best defenders in the Bundesliga. The report from Gazzetta claims that Milan – who are top of the Serie A – are looking to strengthen their defence in January so as to give them a good chance of success this season. Kabak has now emerged as their first-choice target, and he would cost in the region of £20m. The Turkish international is an exciting young talent, and he would be a very good signing for the German club. The youngster is very good at a...
