AC/DC is all charged-up for another U.K. chart title. The Aussie rock legends lead the midweek albums chart with Power Up (Columbia), their first LP in six years. At this stage, it’s no contest. AC/DC’s 17th album is outselling the rest of the Top 5 combined, and is on track to become the year’s fastest-selling album. Over on the Official U.K. Singles Chart, “Positions” enters a second week at No. 1, while two more tracks from the LP crack the Top 40. Grande’s “34+35” is new at No. 9 and “Motive” featuring Doja Cat is at No. 16, extending her list of U.K. Top 40 hits to 28. She’s the fourth artist to achieve the chart double in 2020 (Drake, Eminem and Stormzy are the others), and the first female artist to score consecutive chart double wins in almost ten years (Rihanna did it in 2011). Veteran Irish crooner Daniel O’Donnell extends his national chart record as his new album Daniel (DMG TV) starts at No. 3, and becomes his 40th U.K. Top 40 album. The veteran country artist has landed a Top 10 album in each of the last 29 years, and is the first artist to have an LP on the national sales chart each year for the last 32 years. Daniel’s No. 3 bow is an equal career best, jointly held with O’Donnell’s 2003 album Daniel In Blue Jeans.
