Investigations set to begin in DR Congo following the death of Italian envoy

Congolese investigators arrived in Goma on Thursday to try to clarify the circumstances in which the Italian ambassador, his guard – a carabinieri – and a driver working for the World Food Program were killed earlier this week. Ekiti panel recommends N500,000 compensation for widow of slain SARS officer

The Ekiti State Judicial Panel of Inquiry on Human Rights Violations has recommended payment of N500,000 as compensation to Mrs Ogunleye Ajayi, wife of a murdered officer in the disbanded police Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS). The panel, presided over by its chairman, Justice Cornelius Akintayo (Rtd), recommended the payment of the amount at its resumed sitting in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday. Newsmen report that the deceased, Sgt. Musiliu Ajaiyi, was murdered by unknown persons sometime in 2019. Police arrest ‘civil defence’ robber in Ogun

Officers Ogun Police Command have arrested an armed robbery suspect, Adeolu Bankole, operating in Ayetoro area of the state with a stolen uniform of an officer of Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps. The Command, in a press release was apprehended on the 5th of February 2021 following a complaint by some students of Olabisi Onabanjo University that they were robbed of their belonging at a gunpoint. Nigeria correctional chief orders tightening of security at custodial centres

Interim Controller-General, Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), John Mrabure, has charged officers of the service to strengthen security-watch over custodial centres across the country. Mr. Mrabure gave the directive when he paid an unscheduled working visit to Medium Security Custodial Centre Kuje, in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. The service spokesman, Francis Enobore, announced this in a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja. Sokoto border communities warned against aiding smuggling

Border communities in Sokoto State have been warned against aiding the smuggling of illicit items into the country.
