US election: Donald Trump makes first appearance since ‘defeat’

US President Donald Trump makes his first official post-election appearance Wednesday for what should be a moment of national unity to mark Veteran’s Day, now marred by his refusal to acknowledge Joe Biden’s win. The president visited Arlington National Cemetery around 11:00 am, four days after US media projected his Democratic rival would take the White House. Since then he has not addressed the nation other than via Twitter, and has not conceded to Biden, as is traditional once a winner is projected in a US vote. And with Covid-19 cases shattering records across the country and states imposing new restrictions in a push to contain the virus before winter arrives, Trump seems to have all but shelved normal presidential duties. Instead, he has remained shut up inside the presidential mansi...

25 Dresses I’ve Found That Are Perfect for Working From Home

When people ask me what I’ve done over the pandemic, I can proudly say that I’ve perfected the cinnamon bun (it’s all in the proving), learnt how to use a sewing machine, and I have also managed to create the ideal working from home wardrobe. Yes, that does consist of a lot of stretchy denim and chunky knitwear, but it might surprise you to know that some of my favourite WFH outfits are dresses. There is, of course, one big box that any home office frock must tick: it has to have a bit of give. While I don’t imagine any of us are reaching for the Hervé Leger, some fabrics and silhouettes can be a little restrictive and uncomfortable so when I go for a dress to wear all day at my desk, I need it to be comfortable. That being said, it als...

The Supreme Electoral Tribunal announced Arce won 55 percent of the votes against six rivals on the ballot, easily avoiding the need for a runoff. The runner-up was centrist former President Carlos Mesa with just less than 29 percent. Conservative Luis Fernando Camacho, one of the leaders of the protest movement that helped drive Morales out of the country a year ago, received only 14 percent of the vote. MAS also won majorities in bot...
