Of The Trees Is Developing a Custom Game for Nintendo’s Original Gameboy Color

Of The Trees has announced a new video game, complete with a storyline, custom-made pixel art, soundtrack and more. Taking to Twitter to reveal the project, which is inspired by the “lore” of his recent music releases, the renowned bass music artist said the game will run on the original Gameboy Color. As music festivals return at full tilt after a brutal pandemic, there’s no better time to live the high life. Enter The Roll Up Festival, a three-day event combining cannabis culture, music and Earth Day celebrations. It’s essentially an adult playground with carnival attractions, rides, ball-pits, car shows, professional wrestling sideshows and—of course–lots of munchies. Colorado’s beloved summer festival Sonic Bloom is back and has revealed the lineup for its 15th annual event. Of The Trees has unveiled his latest single “Windhorse,” marking the visceral bass storyteller’s first chapter of his forthcoming EP, Tale of Elegos, due out October 27th. Spun in a natural and hypnotic ethos, Tale Of Elegos will showcase a collection of five tracks of ambient, downtempo electronic records. In addition to “Windhorse” collaborator Sophie Marks, the EP will feature Kala and Mary Coso, expanding the Denver-based beatsmith’s unique sound. Opening with elements of biomusic like rustling leaves and chirping bird samples, a gentle flute melody chimes in and eventually builds into a tribal beat drop, where fuzzy basslines underscore Marks’ sultry lyrics.
