Fontaines D.C. Blast to No. 1 In U.K. With ‘Skinty Fia’

Fontaines D.C. are flying high on the U.K. Albums Chart with Skinty Fia (via Partisan), the Dublin rockers’ first No. 1. Skinty Fia roars to the top of the Official U.K. Albums Chart by outselling its nearest rival by two-to-one, with physical sales accounting for 87% of its total, the OCC reports. The Irishmen — Carlos O’Connell, Conor Curley, Conor Deegan III, Grian Chatten and Tom Coll — have landed Top 10 slots for each of their three albums, with 2019’s Dogrel peaking at No. 9 and 2020 LP A Hero’s Death reaching No. 2. Little Mix’s career retrospective Between Us (RCA) rises 5-3, for a new peak, coinciding with the girl group’s Confetti Tour of the U.K. Between Us is said to be the band’s final releases before its remaining members, Jade Thirlwall, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Perrie Edward...

Fontaines D.C. Powering to U.K. Chart Title With ‘Skinty Fia’

Fontaines D.C. are careening to the U.K. chart summit with Skinty Fia (Partisan), the Irish rock outfit’s third studio album. It’s unlikely any other title will trump the Dublin act. At the halfway point of the chart cycle, Skinty Fia is outselling its nearest rival by four-to-one, with physical sales accounting for over 90% of its chart units, the OCC reports. Fontaines D.C.’s previous albums both cracked the Top 10, though neither reached the summit. Skinty Fia’s 2020’s predecessor A Hero’s Death peaked at No. 2, while the band’s 2019 debut Dogrel reached No. 9. Skinty Fia leads an all-new Top 3 on the Official Chart Update, ahead of Everything Was Beautiful (Bella Union), the ninth studio album from Jason Pierce’s alternative rock band Spiritualized. Harry Styles’ ‘As It Was’ Cruising to Another U.K. Chart Crown

It’ll take something special to stop Harry Styles from retaining the U.K. chart title with “As It Was” (via Columbia). Styles’ latest hit, the first single lifted from his forthcoming third studio album, Harry’s House, leads the midweek chart. If it holds firm when the positions are confirmed later this week, it’ll give the English pop star a fourth consecutive week in charge of the Official U.K. Singles Chart. Meanwhile, Cat Burns’ “Go” (RCA/Since 93) looks set for a new peak, climbing 5-3 on the Official Chart Update, while London rapper Potter Payper could bag his first U.K. Top 10 as “Gangsteritus” (0207) with Tiggs Da Author looks set to fly 40-10. A special 7” vinyl release of “The Lakes” tied into Record Store Day 2022 could give Taylor Swift another U.K. chart appearance. “The Lake...

Digga D Heading For U.K. Chart Title

Digga D is on track for his first U.K. leader with Noughty By Nature (via CGM/EGA). The 21-year-old drill artist is new at No. 1 on the midweek chart with Noughty, his third mixtape. If it holds its position, Noughty will be the London rapper’s first chart topper and second Top 10 appearance after 2021’s Made in the Pyrex, which hit No. 3. Based on the chart blast, a string of hits collections should impact the top tier, including Fleetwood Mac’s 50 Years – Don’t Stop (up 11-4 via Rhino), Little Mix’s Between Us (up 12-6 via RCA) and The Police’s Greatest Hits (No. 9 via A&M), which enjoys a sales lift thanks to a vinyl reissue.  Further down the list, U.S. slacker-rock master Kurt Vile is eying a Top 20 berth with Watch My Moves, his ninth studio record and first through Fiction....

Harry Styles ‘As It Was’ On Track For Third Week Atop U.K. Chart

Harry Styles’ U.K. chart supremacy with “As It Was” should continue for a third week, at least. The English pop star’s comeback track edged out Jack Harlow’s “First Class” for the race to No. 1 last week, and, based on early sales and streaming data, Styles is likely to stay there. “First Class” is the leader in the United States and Australia, but it can’t seem to get past Styles “As It Was” in the U.K., which leads the chart blast, with Harlow’s hit holding at No. 2. In the absence of any new arrivals in the Top 20, Camila Cabello and Ed Sheeran’s “Bam Bam” continues to rise, potentially lifting 10-9, for a new U.K. chart peak. Harry Styles’ ‘As It Was’ Enters Second Week at No. 1 In U.K.

Harry Styles‘ “As It Was” (via Columbia/Sony) won’t be budged from the summit of the Official U.K. Singles Chart. The former One Direction star enters a second week at No. 1 with “As It Was,” the first track lifted from his forthcoming third studio album, Harry’s House. The Brit’s hit single blows away the competition with a market-leading 7.6 million U.K. streams, according to the OCC. That competition is led this week by Jack Harlow, whose “First Class” (Atlantic) debuts at No. 2, for the Kentucky rapper’s first U.K. Top 10 appearance. “First Class,” which samples from Fergie’s 2007 track “Glamorous,” is the new No. 1 in Australia this week. Harry Styles Blasts to No. U.K. No. 1 With ‘As It Was’

Harry Styles’ comeback is complete, as his new song “As It Was” (Columbia) blasts to No. 1 on the U.K. chart. “As It Was” flies to the top of the Official U.K. Singles Chart with 94,000 chart sales, the OCC reports, for the biggest opening week of any single so far this year. Red Hot Chili Peppers Bag U.K. Chart Title With ‘Unlimited Love’

It’s a red-hot start for the Red Hot Chili Peppers in the U.K., where the California rockers bow at No. 1 with Unlimited Love (Warner Records). The new set is the Rock Hall inductees’ fifth leader on the Official U.K. Albums Chart following By The Way (from 2002), Live in Hyde Park (2004), Stadium Arcadium (2006) and I’m With You (2011). Unlimited Love, the Chili Peppers’ twelfth studio effort, is the first to feature guitarist John Frusciante since he split from the group in 2009. It’s also the new leader on the latest Billboard 200 chart. Following her multiple wins at the 64th Grammy Awards, Olivia Rodrigo’s debut album Sour (Geffen) improves 8-3 in the U.K., while Harry Styles’ sophomore solo album from 2019, Fine Line, leaps 28-6, boosted by the English singer’s release of “As It...

Pink Floyd’s ‘Rise Up’ Heading For U.K. Top 10

Pink Floyd’s tribute to Ukraine could give the legendary prog-rock band a rare top 10 U.K. hit. Released last week, “Hey, Hey, Rise Up!” is Pink Floyd’s first original music since 1994, and features bassist Guy Pratt and Mercury Prize-winning keyboardist Nitin Sawhney. The surprise release notches 6.8 million streams during the latest cycle, for its fourth week at the summit — a record for a U.K. rap song, the OCC reports. “Starlight” (via Neighbourhood Recordings) overcame a fast start from fellow British rapper Aitch, whose “Baby” (Capitol) featuring Ashanti led in the early stages of the chart week. Michael Buble, Placebo and Machine Gun Kelly Battle For U.K. No. 1 Album

Michael Bublé is on track for a fifth No. 1 in the U.K., though the race is far from won. The Canadian crooner’s aptly-titled album Higher (Reprise) leads the midweek U.K. chart, and is on pace to give him a first leader since 2018’s Love. Bublé has also led the Official U.K. Albums Chart with Crazy Love (2009), Christmas (2011) and To Be Loved (2013). Placebo and Machine Gun Kelly could have a say in the outcome.
