Low Want “More” From Life on New Single: Stream

Slowcore legends Low have been teasing their upcoming album HEY WHAT before it comes out in September with a string of new singles. Their latest preview of the record is “More,” and it might just be the best track we’ve heard from it yet. Stream it below. “More” runs out the gate with blistering distortion and blown-out fuzz that, despite their volume, are actually quite melodic and pretty. Alan Sparhawk’s guitar is emotive as ever thanks to that textural filter, and Mimi Parker’s timeless falsettos further draw out that airy feeling. “I saw more than what I ever sought,” she sings. “I should have asked for more than what I got.” It’s a dense two minutes, there’s no doubting that, but it goes by in a flash. Accompanying the Low song is a music video by Julie Casper Roth. The stop-motion cl...

<span class="localtime" data-ltformat="F j, Y | g:ia" data-lttime="2021-05-08T15:11:59+00:00“>May 8, 2021 | 11:11am ET Song of the Week breaks down and talks about the song we just can’t get out of our head ever week. Find these songs and more on our Spotify Top Songs playlist. For our favorite new songs from emerging artists, check out our Spotify New Sounds playlist. This week, noise rockers HEALTH and industrial icons Nine Inch Nails are a match made in end-of-days heaven. Catharsis can take many curious forms: a good cry after a film, the euphoria among strangers dancing to an electric piece of pop, a long run (allegedly). Then, there’s HEALTH and Nine Inch Nails, two groups that have long harnessed the power of noise as their tool of choice, active...

<span class="localtime" data-ltformat="F j, Y | g:ia" data-lttime="2021-04-19T15:50:12+00:00“>April 19, 2021 | 11:50am ET Deep into their illustrious career, alternative rock heroes Dinosaur Jr. are set to release their 12th studio album, Sweep It into Space, on April 23rd. It’s a testament to the enduring consistency of the band’s singer, guitarist, and central force J Mascis. A gifted multi-instrumentalist, Mascis first established himself as the speed-demon drummer of Massachusetts hardcore band Deep Wound. From there, he’d form Dinosaur with fellow Deep Wound member Lou Barlow in 1984. Guided by Mascis’ twangy, pseudo-country vocals and an incendiary electric guitar assault, Dinosaur broke onto the scene something like the punk-rock version of Neil ...
