With Texis, the NY-based duo’s new LP, Alexis Krauss and Derek E. Miller are taking bolder risks and crafting emotionally resonant music. A term they batted around while writing and recording Texis, out Friday (September 10th) was “nourishing,” which according to Miller “may not be a word that people associate with our band, but hopefully that will change when the record comes out.” Texis is an eclectic and charged collection of songs, full of grunge guitars and catchy melodies, all laid on top of frenetic drums and explosive synths. Sleigh Bells have shared the frenzied and lively “Justine Go Genesis,” the latest single off their upcoming album, Texis, due out September 10th. Watch the music video below. Driven by a muscular guitar riff and fast-paced drums, “Justine Go Genesis” features a powerhouse performance by Sleigh Bells singer Alexis Krauss. “I’m a cavity comedy girl/ The best night of your life,” she pronounces. “I really wanna blow your mind/ But I haven’t got the time.” The noise pop duo started working on the song back in 2018, when producer/guitarist Derek Miller first sent Krauss an early demo. She wrote the catchy melody within a few hours of receiving the track, resulting in a sound mixing elements of Metallica, Spice Girls, and ‘90s drum and bass. Sleigh Bells will be hitting the road this fall to kick off a 2021-2022 tour. Cheekily titled “Unannounced Album Tour”, the announcement does indeed include a tease for “new music coming very soon.” The North American jaunt begins October 5th at Lincoln Theatre in Raleigh, North Carolina. Stops in Nashville, Austin, and Los Angeles are included in the first leg, which concludes on October 28th in Seattle. LA indie rockers Kills Birds will serve as a supporting act for the fall leg. Sleigh Bells will then pick the tour back up at Newport Music Hall in Columbus, Ohio on February 8th. The second leg includes dates in Chicago, Toronto, and Brooklyn before closing February 27th in Philadelphia.
