Nine Inch Nails had a reunion of sorts during their tour closer last night at Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Area native Trent Reznor welcomed former members Chris Vrenna, Donny Lohner, Charlie Clouser and Richard Patrick onstage with the band to perform “Eraser” off The Downward Spiral, and they stayed for the rest of the set, assisting on “Wish,” “Sin,” “Gave Up,” “Head Like a Hole,” and a cover of Filter‘s “Hey Man Nice Shot.” Watch fan-shot footage from the performance below. [embedded content][embedded content] [embedded content][embedded content] Patrick is best known as the founder and frontman of Filter, but before forming that band he was part of the Nine Inch Nails live lineup from 1989-1993. During an interview a couple years ago, he recalled quitting the band aft...
The Joe Walsh-led annual VetsAid benefit concert will be a hot ticket for rock’n’roll fans this fall, as it will feature what’s being billed as the final performance of Walsh’s pre-Eagles band James Gang, plus appearances by Dave Grohl, Nine Inch Nails, The Black Keys and The Breeders. The Drew Carey-hosted event will be held Nov. 13 at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. Tickets go on sale Friday (Aug. 5). Walsh, who considers Columbus to be his hometown and later became a star amid the late ’60s Cleveland rock scene, curated an Ohio-themed bill for VetsAid, all proceeds from which will be donated to veterans’ services charities in the Buckeye state. Grohl was born in Warren, about an hour southeast of Cleveland, while Black Keys founders Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney grew up in Akron. ...

Nine Inch Nails is back on tour later this week, and they have finally announced their opening acts for the upcoming U.S. tour. Boy Harsher, Yves Tumor, and 100 Gecs have been added to the list of musicians supporting NIN on this tour. Boy Harsher and 100 Gecs will offer support on the first leg of the show, with Yves Tumor taking over for September dates. Ministry and Nitzer Ebbwill will join the band for a special show in Cleveland, where NIN was formed back in 1988. According to a release, this stellar lineup of newer sensations and fellow industrial music pioneers was personally curated by Trent Reznor himself. Tickets for upcoming show dates are available here. The upcoming tour follows a 4-year break from touring, which has consisted of plenty of projects for the band. Since they wer...
Nine Inch Nails will replace Foo Fighters as the Friday night headliners at Boston Calling. The Foos have canceled all activity following the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins. This marks Nine Inch Nails’ first time on the road in four years. As previously announced, the Saturday of the festival will be headlined by The Strokes and by Metallica on Sunday. The headliners will lead a strong lineup of both regional acts and globally recognized music stars. Performances at Boston Calling will include sets from Rüfüs Du Sol, Weezer, HAIM, Glass Animals, Run The Jewels, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Avril Lavigne, Black Pumas, Modest Mouse, Goose, Cheap Trick, Oliver Tree, EARTHGANG, Orville Peck, The Struts, and more. Boston Calling recently announced a new stage, the Tivoli Audio O...
Nine Inch Nails‘ last proper headlining, non-festival performance was all the way back in 2018. With COVID and a few canceled festivals, the band hasn’t performed live in a while, but they just announced that is (thankfully) going to change. The band is scheduled for a hometown performance on September 24 at Blossom Music Center in Cleveland, Ohio, which will feature Ministry and Nitzer Ebb. General public tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. EST on Friday, Feb. 11 via Live Nation. The Nine Inch Nails Artist and Official Platinum presales begin at 10 am EST tomorrow, February 8. The band was supposed to play several intimate shows in Cleveland last year before Reznor pulled the plug on account of the pandemic. Additionally, Trent Reznor and company also hit France’s Hellfest, and will headline At...
The Shaky Knees Festival just unveiled its lineup and schedule, set for April 29 to May 1 at Atlanta’s Central Park next year. The annual fest is bringing in an eclectic string of performing artists, garnering the likes of Billy Idol, Chvrches, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Kurt Vile & The Violators, Death Cab For Cutie, Spoon and many more. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. ET tomorrow, November 11, on the festival’s website, where three-day and one-day general admission, GA+, VIP and platinum tickets will be available. Founded in 2013 by Tim Sweetwood to bring in the sounds of indie artists to the music capitol of Atlanta, this is the fests’ seventh year, as it was canceled in 2020 in light of the pandemic. The festival’s name comes from My Morning Jacket’s “Steam Engine,” in whi...
Following a banner year that included (so far) winning a Golden Globe, an Oscar, working on new music and producing a new Halsey album, Trent Reznor was ready to take Nine Inch Nails back on the road for a celebration of the return of live music. However, with the Delta variant of COVID continuing to spread, Nine Inch Nails will not be heading out on tour after all. The slate of Nine Inch Nails tour dates included a slew of festivals and a pair of more intimate shows at the band’s spiritual home of Cleveland. In a statement posted on the band’s social media, Nine Inch Nails explained their decision a bit further. “It is with great regret that we are cancelling all NIN appearances for the remainder of this year,” the statement began. “When originally planned, these shows were intended to be...
A year and a half after the release of her third album, Manic, Halsey dropped a big bombshell — and it’s not just that her fourth album is on the way. The pop star’s upcoming collection will be produced by none other than Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, aka the reigning Best Original Score Oscar winners (along with Jon Baptiste) for their work on Soul. There isn’t yet a date for release for the LP, but it does have a title: If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power. Billboards for the release popped up in select cities on Monday morning, and Halsey herself shared the news on Instagram along with a snippet of a song, available below. As you can hear in the clip, whatever song that may be sounds dark, menacing and cinematic — exactly what you’d expect from a Reznor/Ross product...
The festival announcements are rolling in faster than you can say COVID lockdown. Riot Fest, which announced part of its lineup last June, has unveiled the whole thing and it’s a doozy. Nine Inch Nails (who are also headlining Louder Than Life a weekend later) are joining Smashing Pumpkins, Pixies and Run the Jewels at the top of this year’s bill. Originally, My Chemical Romance was slated to headline, but they’re conspicuously absent from the lineup. But have no fear, MCR will be headlining the 2022 edition of Riot Fest. Meanwhile, Mike Patton will perform double duty, performing with Faith No More and Mr. Bungle at the event. Also announced were DEVO, NOFX, Dinosaur Jr., The Ghost Inside, Motion City Soundtrack and many, many more. According to the event’s press release, a...
