NFT battles: Nike takes seller of unlicensed NFT sneakers to the court

Popular sneaker maker Nike has started the “licensed NFT” wars by taking an online reseller called StockX to court for trademark infringement or sale of unlicensed nonfungible token (NFT) sneakers. According to a Reuters report, Nike has filed a lawsuit against the reseller in the New York Federal court demanding an undisclosed amount in damages and a halt of sales on such virtual collectibles. StockX reportedly started selling Nike sneaker NFTs in January and promised buyers they can redeem the real-world version of the sneakers in the near future. Nike in its 50-page complaint claimed StockX has sold nearly 500 NFT sneakers with the Nike branding which has dented their reputation and legitimacy. The shoemaker brand also alleged the NFT sneakers were being sold at inflated pri...

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Nike / NIke It seems like all of a sudden Nike is getting lawsuit happy these days as they’re once again going to court to sue athletic apparel retailer Lululemon for patent infringement, but this time it isn’t over a sneaker silhouette. According to CNBC, Nike has filed a patent infringement against Lululemon over their at-home Mirror fitness device and related mobile applications, saying that Lululemon bit the idea that they’ve been cultivating for decades. “Nike claims that in 1983, it invented and filed a patent application on a device for determining a runner’s speed, distance traversed, elapsed time and calories expended. It has also since launched a range of popular mobile apps such as Nike Run Club and Nike Training Club.” Really? Since ’83? Nike ...

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Jordan Brand / NIke Just when it seemed like Fed Ex was the devil when it came to “shipping and handling” Nike sneakers to waiting customers only to leave them empty handed, it seems like they got competition from another delivery service and it isn’t UPS. Hypebeast is reporting that a former DHL employee has just been busted for housing (90’s ebonics for stealing) approximately $60,000 in Nike products during her stint working for the delivery company. Chamon Davis was arrested and charged earlier this week for the heist that she continuously pulled off while working at DHL’s Fox Meadows warehouse in Memphis, Tennessee. NBA Players Are Having A Hard Time Finding Nike Kobe Bryant Sneakers

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Nike Basketball / NIke The everyday sneakerhead might still regard the classic Air Jordans are the grails of the sneaker collecting culture, but NBA players seem to be stocking up on Nike Kobe‘s to the point that they’re becoming hard to come by in today’s sneaker game. In a new report by ESPN, the Nike Kobe sneaker line has become so in-demand amongst NBA players these days that they’re having a hard time finding pairs in their sizes. The reasoning behind the scarcity is that Nike’s partnership with Kobe’s estate has come to an end, so production of the sneakers have come to a halt and with though negotiations between the two sides are ongoing there’s not guarantee that they’ll work together again. Because of that, the sneaker line of the NBA legend is a...

After taking arguably the least popular Jordan model in the Air Jordan II to give it the Off-White makeover, Virgil is now setting his eyes on another often overlooked Nike silhouette whose popularity he’ll try to resurrect. Highsnobiety just gave sneakerheads a sneak peak Virgil’s latest remix project in the Nike Air Force 1 Mids, and well, how ’bout them Knicks? Hardly recognizable at first glance, the Off-White Air Force 1 Mid’s are covered in fabric that render the sneaker unrecognizable with the criss-cross lacing that’s become his calling card of sorts, and track spikes on the soles that he’s used on previous models. Yeah, we don’t...

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Nike / NIke Nike has heard our cries and seen our tears and are apparently FINALLY about to “fix” their SNKRS app to ensure more people take home “W’s” instead of having these bots eat like the app is a buffet. Hypebeast is reporting that during a meeting last week, Nike execs were discussing the displeasure sneakerheads have been experiencing with their biggest app and blamed it for sneakerheads turning to other brands such as New Balance, adidas, and even Crocs at this point. Looking to get those customers back and have them satisfied, Nike is hoping to up the number of W’s on the app to keep customers coming back and satisfied with their hated app. The meeting, which was first reported by Brendan Dunne, heard SNKRS’ global vice president mention that N...
