Something big is coming to New York City’s 10036. The biggest, actually, since before the pandemic.  This weekend, a brand new nightclub called Nebula will open in the heart of Times Square with performances from GORDO (Carnage’s house music alias) and Purple Disco Machine. It will be the largest nightlife space to open in the city for over a year.  Featuring a 5,500-square foot dance floor and a moving ceiling built out with video panels, the venue’s specs are practically unmatched when it comes to Manhattan nightlife. And, with a maximum capacity of only 700 people, clubbers should be able to avoid being packed like sardines.  Also taking the stage at Nebula this month will be Malaa on October 28th and Camelphat on October 30th. The club...

The attendee, Jenny Fu, alleges that a bartender directed homophobic comments toward three of her friends, who are queer. After Fu objected to the language, she claims the bartender proceeded to call the club’s security guards in to “intimidate” her before she was forcibly removed. According to Fu, who believes she was singled out in part for her Asian heritage, four security guards assaulted her near the club’s entrance, where they “threw and shoved [her] to the cement.” ...

Chicago Councilman Proposes 24-Hour House Music Clubs

Chicago is known around the world as the birthplace of house music. Despite that fact, however, the city apparently does not have any late-night clubs. City Alderman Carlos Ramirez-Rosa recognizes that problem, and is seeking to change it. “House music was born in Chicago,” he tweeted on May 31st. “I’ve met many tourists who are shocked to learn Chicago has no late-night House music clubs. We should consider allowing two 24-hour nightclubs (one downtown/northside, one southside) to tap into the international market for Chicago House music.” While the idea of two nonstop house music clubs will undoubtedly be appealing to any clubber, Ramirez-Rosa also highlights the impact such venues would have on Chicago’s tourism sector and the revenue that could be ge...

France’s Nightlife Sector Remains Shuttered While Strip Clubs Reopen

As France continues to ease pandemic restrictions Members of French Parliament are pointing out a perceived flaw in the government’s strategy: the decision to keep nightclubs closed while reopening swinger’s clubs. May 19th marks the next milestone on France’s path to normalcy as movie theaters, retail locations, and museums have been given the green light to reopen, leaving nightclubs among the last types of establishments to still remain shut.  France’s nightlife sector came to a screeching halt over 14 months ago and according to one MP, the closures have resulted in a loss of 45,000 jobs and counting.  Blue Night Things get even messier with proper context, however, as May 19th will also allow many swinger’s clubs to reopen. This is due to the fa...

The UK suffered the highest pandemic death toll in all of Europe, but the nation’s reopening strategy is moving forward with promise amid a high rate of vaccinations.  Large-scale events have been on ice for over a year, but depending on the results of a new series of test events taking place in the UK, the region’s nightlife sector could be back in action in the near future. On Friday Liverpool’s Circus nightclub drew 3,000 attendees for an event designed to study the spread of COVID-19 among a non-socially distanced population, according to the Associated Press. Attendees had to produce a negative test prior to the event, but once inside they were free to dance, mingle, and enjoy performances from Jayda G and Lewis Boardman, all without masks.  Thousa...
