Nostalgia hits different with Nicky Romero and DubVision. Their new track, a collab with Philip Strand called “Stay A Little Longer,” is a blast from the past—a progressive house boomerang returning for another go ’round. Opening with delayed guitars and keys, Strand’s vocals reel us in with emotive lyrics. Blissful pads and warm bass loom in the undertones as we are progressively driven to the drop. A nostalgic synth melody plays underneath Strand’s topline until it unleashes its full might in the drop, encouraging us to stay just a little longer. Romero has been rinsing “Stay A Little Longer” in his DJ sets, like those at Ultra Japan and AMF. He previously released “Back To Where We Started” with Afrojack and “F...

Nicky Romero and Afrojack are resetting the clock with their first original collaborative track. Last week, the landmark 10th edition of Amsterdam’s AMF Music Festival saw performances from a myriad of dance music icons, including the two progressive house titans, who didn’t hesitate to hit rewind. Opening up their explosive B2B set, the two evoked immediate feelings of nostalgia and whisked the audience down memory lane with an unreleased record tailor-made for the golden era of big room. The festival-ready smash, “Back To Where We Started,” harkens back to influences shaping some of the artists’ earliest hit records. For that reason, it’s no wonder the energizing four-to-the-floor kicks and stadium-filling lead synth animated...
It’s 2012. “Levels” is blasting through every house party. Big room house music is dominating the club circuit. Avicii, Skrillex and Pretty Lights are headlining Ultra Music Festival. Life is good. That year, the EDM bubble looked more like a 5 Gum commercial, a mind-bending maelstrom of fantastical electronic music festivals and totemic tracks. Rave culture bubbled up from the underground and exploded through the mainstream, leading to a collective serotonin rush that still remains. And while the EDM ecosystem is still thriving, it’s markedly different from those days, when DJs and producers pumped out hits like a broken printer. 2012 gave rise to a slew of generational dance anthems, which are now relics of a bygone era. Read on to turn back the clock a ...

To wrap up his electrifying set, Romero played “I Could Be The One,” a seminal track that he produced and wrote alongside Avicii in 2012. The record is now prevalently considered a generational dance anthem. As the crowd prepared for the song’s distinctive drop, they could be seen belting along to its timeless lyrics: “I could be the one to make you feel that way / I could be the one to set you free.” Watch the surreal moment below. More than 600 artists performed at this year’s Tomorrowland, marking it as one of the festival’s biggest events to date. Artists included Charlo...

After a larger-than-life performance by Nicky Romero, it’s safe to say Atlanta’s Domaine Nightclub is back in full force. Romero, a bona fide tastemaker and one of the EDM scene’s most influential progressive house producers, threw down at the club last Friday, February 11th. He cycled through his hits like the dance music vet he is, dropping crowd-pleasers like “Acid Is My DNA,” “Destiny,” and “See You On The Dancefloor.” That last track was fitting, as the 26,000-square foot venue was transformed into a carefree and rollicking dancefloor the entire night. And after a multimillion dollar renovation which included a state-of-the-art update to the club’s live production, the energy was palpable. The Protocol Recordings boss wa...
