Best Coast Revamp ‘Boyfriend’ to Raise Funds for the Trevor Project

Best Coast has shared a new 2020 version of their hit single, “Boyfriend.” As part of the Bandcamp Friday, Best Coast re-recorded and changed the pronouns on the 10-year-old track to make it more inclusive. “In the decade since writing this song,” Bethany Cosentino said about the song in a statement. “I have had a lot of time to reflect on not only that obsession, but the way in which I have at times, glorified obsessive and toxic romantic relationships in my songwriting. This song in particular started to feel problematic to me around the time I really started working on myself at age 30. I would listen back to my lyrics and think about how much I was neglecting myself and how I made this guy the protagonist of my own life and story.” She continued, ...

The Replacements Share ‘I Don’t Know’ Demo

The Replacements have an extensive box set chronicling the Pleased to Meet Me era that arrives in October. Ahead of its release, fans can hear a newly shared demo of “I Don’t Know.” As you can hear below on the self-mocking track, the lo-fi, garage-y, bare-bones 1986 version (which was recorded at Minneapolis’ Blackberry Way Studios) of the song, the band was in the zone before they hit Ardent Studios in Memphis with producer Jim Dickinson in April 1987. If you listen carefully where the song’s breakdown should be, you can hear someone yelling (or singing depending on your point of view) “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.” The box set will feature 29 previously unreleased songs, including 15 demos recorded at Minneapolis’ Blackberry Way Studios in 1986....

Suzuki Jimny Black Bison Edition Is a Jeep, Bronco, and Land Rover Mashup

Along with the Ford Ranger Raptor, the Suzuki Jimny is one of the most desirable off-road vehicles we don’t get here in the U.S. And while the Jimny is typically known for its spartan rugged charm, the folks at Japanese outfitter Wald International have made the little 4×4 flashier with additional off-road design cues and a posh interior. Up front, the Suzuki Jimny Black Bison Edition features a new grille with headlight covers. The front bumper receives new LED lights, and additional lighting elements can be found on the roof. A special aero hood adds to the more aggressive look. In the rear, there is a new bumper panel and spoiler. It’s also hard to ignore the beefy overfenders and the off-road-ready tires. Inside the cabin, Wald is offering plenty of luxury. Along with quilted-patt...

Foo Fighters Cancel 2020 Van Tour Dates Amid Coronavirus Pandemic

Update (Aug. 7): The dates for the Foo Fighters’ 2020 Van Tour, which had previously been rescheduled, have been cancelled altogether. “Foo Fighters have cancelled the Van Tour 2020,” a statement read. “All shows listed below will be automatically refunded…we look forward to seeing you all as soon as it is safe for everyone to do so.” “Playing a gig with a sock full of broken bones is one thing, but playing a show when YOUR health and safety is in jeopardy is another,” Frontman Dave Grohl said a in an earlier statement when originally announcing a postponement, referencing the time he fell off a stage and broke his leg in June 2015 but still performed. “We f—-n’ love you guys. So let do this right and rain check s–t.&#...

Post Malone’s ‘Circles’ Sets More Records With Run to No. 1 on Adult Contemporary Chart

Post Malone’s “Circles” adds more honors to its chart résumé, as it reaches No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary radio airplay ranking (dated Aug. 8). With the coronation, Post Malone becomes the first artist to have topped both the AC and Rap Airplay charts as the sole lead artist on each No. 1. On Rap Airplay, he reigned with “Rockstar,” featuring 21 Savage, for two weeks in 2017. Plus, “Circles” rules in its 41st week on the AC chart, completing the longest climb to No. 1 by a solo male in the chart’s 59-year history. It falls shy of the overall record by one week: matchbox twenty’s “Unwell” hit the top in its 42nd frame in October 2001. On the all-genre, multi-metric Billboard Hot 100, “Circles,” rel...

Foo Fighters Cancel 25th Anniversary Van Tour

To what should come as no surprise to anyone, Foo Fighters have canceled their Van tour that was supposed to Dave Grohl and company on the same route as their first tour from 1995. And yes, it’s canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Foo Fighters were slated to launch the tour in April in Phoenix and continue across the country. That tour was originally pushed to October after the pandemic shut things down in March, but today’s decision is the inevitability at a time when cases continue to rise. Important information about the Van Tour 2020. pic.twitter.com/E1E8AS0lx8 — Foo Fighters (@foofighters) August 7, 2020 The band will likely focus on their new album, something that Grohl himself said was just about done in an interview earlier this year, and he compared it...

NYC Sets Up More COVID Checkpoints Around The City

Source: Pacific Press / Getty In the early days of the Coronavirus outbreak, New York found itself as the epicenter of the pandemic as the virus spread like unwanted mayonnaise throughout the state and city with seemingly no end in sight. After initiating a long shutdown and quarantine period, the Big Apple seems to finally have the outbreak under control and is doing everything they can to keep it that way as the city reopens and residents try to get back to “normal.” To keep the infection rate as low as it’s been in recent weeks, NYMAG is reporting that Mayor Bill de Blasio is setting up new checkpoints for people coming in from 35 states where the COVID-19 virus is raging out of control. Good move, Mr. Mayor. “If you come here, you must quarantine,” de Blasio said on W...

Formerly Homeless, Cori Bush Pulls Off Upset In Missouri Democratic Primary

Source: Michael B. Thomas / Getty Cori Bush and her rise to political prominence came with some hardships but despite the barriers, she persisted and will soon make history. Bush will become the first Black woman to represent the state of Missouri in the United States Congress after defeating an incumbent figure whose family held the position for over half a century. Local outlet The St. Louis American writes that Bush, a single mother of two, defeated Rep. Lacy Clay, a 10-term congressman, by a count of 72,812 votes to Clay’s 68,201. Considering that their Republican Party’s primary counterparts did not tally anywhere near the votes that Bush and Lacy did, it is largely assumed Bush will be the presumed congresswoman for Missouri’s 1st District. Bush, who is also a nurse...

LeBron James Has The Perfect Response To Donald Trump Not Watching NBA Restart Games

Source: Kevin C. Cox / Getty LeBron James, who doesn’t bite his tongue when it comes to calling out the nonsense he sees or hears, had the perfect response to Donald Trump not watching him and his NBA brethren play. Following the Los Angeles Lakers getting their tails handed to them by the Oklahoma City Thunder in a 105-86 loss, King James clapped back at the orange menace. Donald Trump said on Wednesday morning during a rambling interview with his buddies at Fox and Friends that seeing NBA athletes exercising their constitutional right to protest by kneeling during the National Anthem makes him “turn off the game.” When asked about how he felt about Trump’s decision to tune out because he is BIG MAD about professional athletes kneeling, James shaded the current occ...

Joe Biden Hints at All-Electric, 200-MPH Chevy Corvette in Campaign Video

Former Vice President and current Presidential candidate Joe Biden is an unrepentant fan of the Chevrolet Corvette. In fact, he personally owns a green 1967 Corvette convertible, which just so happens to have a starring role in a recent video he tweeted out in support of his presidential campaign.  There's been a lot of talk about my vetting process lately. Here’s an inside look: pic.twitter.com/tFRKJOE3hi — Joe Biden (@JoeBiden) August 5, 2020 As much as we love hearing the sound of a V-8 spinning toward redline, we know this clip ultimately serves as a prop toward Biden’s political ambitions. We’re not taking a stance one way or the other on the race—this is MotorTrend, not PoliticTrend—other than to point out that it truly seems as though the former Vice President of th...
