Police Shut Down Vigil For Mass Appeal & Street Dreams Artist Kiing Shooter In Queensbridge

Source: Johnny Nunez / Getty Kiing Shooter, a rapper signed to both Nas‘ Mass Appeal Records and his brother Jungle‘s Street Dreams imprint, reportedly died from complications arising from COVID-19. Reports are coming forth that police shut down a vigil in the rapper’s Queensbridge neighborhood, shutting down the event in the process. The New York Post reports that the vigil for Shooter held this past Tuesday in Queensbridge Park was visited by local police, with the outlet saying around 50 people were in attendance at the event. Late last month, Shooter posted an image of him inside a hospital getting treatment for an undisclosed illness but it’s being reported that he possibly contracted COVID-19 while hospitalized. Weezer to Appear on The Simpsons and Will Debut a New Song

Weezer shared a new song, “Hero,” dedicated to frontline workers on Wednesday and now the band will be the latest rock band to appear on an episode of The Simpsons. The episode will take place this Sunday, May 10. The episode, titled “The Hateful Eight Year-Olds,” will see Rivers Cuomo and company will appear as Sailor’s Delight, a cover band on a cruise taken by Homer and Marge, who just so happen to perform Weezer songs from their recent albums. The band will debut a new song titled “Blue Dream” on the episode. The song will appear on the band’s upcoming album, Van Weezer. Sweet Pea Atkinson, a singer in Was (Not Was), died after suffering a heart attack in Los Angeles, where he lived. He was 74. Born Hillard Atkinson in Oberlin, Ohio, he released two solo records 1982’s Don’t Walk Away and Get What You Deserve in 2017. However, he gained more recognition as a member of the funk-rock group Was (Not Was). “He wanted to make a comic book where Sweet Pea was the main character,” Don Was said to Billboard, “because he was a larger than life guy — which is how I still think of him.
