Burning Man Project Launches Kindling, a Platform for Virtual Shared Live Experiences

Burning Man Project, a nonprofit that supports the global Burning Man community and produces the annual beloved Burning Man event in Black Rock City, today announced the launch of a new virtual shared live experience platform called Kindling. The goal of the new portal is to immerse fans into Burning Man culture via the virtual space through specially curated experiences. Its launch is a direct result of Burning Man’s tragic cancellation of its 2020 iteration due to the impact of COVID-19, which was announced back in April. On Wednesday (May 28), the owners of Top Figure, a Black-owned Minneapolis-based social media and branding agency, were exercising in the gym of their co-opted professional building. One duo found a loophole and decided to troll the social media platform. Brooklyn’s own Jean Grae and Donwill came up with the brilliant idea to hold the first-ever “Instagram Approved DJ Set.” Grae and Donwill decided to produce the set after they saw a Page Six article that highlighted Instagram cracking down on DJs due to music copyright issues. As reported by Complex Houdini life’s was cut short on Tuesday, May 26. According to CP 24 gunfire erupted in broad daylight outside of a hotel in Toronto’s Entertainment District. Local police responded to several calls regarding the incident which is said to have occurred at King Street and Blue Jays Way sometime after 4PM in the afternoon. When they arrived a Black male was found laying on the ground with wounds. Two other unidentified victims, a 15-year-old boy and 27-year-old woman, were also found shortly after.
