Mayor Bottoms, Police Chief Fire Atlanta Cops For Using Excessive Force On Spelman & Morehouse Students

With the bodycam video displaying the officers’ tactics in handling the students, two of the officers were let go from their positions today. CBS 46 reports that Taniyah Pilgrim, who attends Spelman, and her friend Messiah Young of Morehouse were driving home from a protest after the city instituted a curfew this past Saturday. A reporter from the outlet recorded the moment where Atlanta police swarmed the vehicle Pilgrim and Young were riding in and smashed out the windows of the car, tased Young, and dragged both Pilgrim and Young out of the vehicle. For this week’s #MetallicaMondays, Metallica are going back to the Load era and streaming their Jan. 2, 1997 show in Salt Lake City, Utah. Josef Bansuelo, Former 7Seconds Bassist, Dies

Josef Bansuelo, who played bass in famed hardcore band 7Seconds for a brief period, has died. The band confirmed the news on their Facebook page. Bansuelo performed with the band on their New Wind and Praise album and EP respectively in 1986 and 1987, replacing Steve You. Per singer Kevin Seconds, the cause of death was cancer. “I just got word that my friend and ex-band brother Joe Bansuelo lost his battle with cancer,” Seconds wrote in a Facebook post that was shared on the band’s page. “I had been informed in recent days by close friends that he was in hospice and not doing well so this isn’t a complete shock but I am stunned and at a loss of words at the moment.” According to a GoFundMe page set up for his family, Bansuelo died on May 25. “Joe was in 7Seconds for a ...

Musicians from across the country are doing their part to protest police brutality and racism this week and, in the process, they’re inspiring a lot of young people to do the same. Multi-instrumentalist Nandi Bushell, the 10-year-old, one-kid band, posted an electrifying cover of Rage Against the Machine’s “Guerrilla Radio” on Monday in support of the Black Lives Matter movement, as she jammed out on three different instruments with a BLM sign taped to her drum kit.
