In the past week as Nashville has gradually reopened, a photo circulated where Big Ass Honky-Tonk and Rock & Roll Steakhouse was filled to capacity with patrons. As you can see below, there wasn’t much social distancing nor folks wearing masks. Even more problematic (at least in this case), bars in Davidson County can’t sit at bars or be served. View this post on Instagram This was last night at Kid Rock’s bar in Nashville. Our cases in TN are skyrocketing. George Floyd’s Daughter Gianna Thanks Kanye West

Source: WENN/Avalon / WENN For the past few years Kanye West has made some very questionable political choices from throwing his support behind Donald Trump’s presidency to calling slavery a choice, but he finally did something we could get behind when he pledged to pay for the education of George Floyd’s daughter’s while also blessing the families of Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery with financial assistance. On Monday night 6-year-old Gianna Floyd publicly thanked Kanye for his generous gift on her Instagram account (children have social media too. Shea announced they are shutting down their plainclothes crime unit. This change is monumental as the subdivision in question has been responsible for some of the most notorious police shootings in the city’s history. Shea explained the recent demonstrations have led to this new strategy. “Thankfully, here in New York City, angry demonstrations have turned peaceful. Thoughtful discu...

‘Wakanda’ Is a Myth: We Are Still Dying In Atlanta [Editorial]

Source: Julia Beverly / Radio One Digital Atlanta is painted as a Black utopia with its affluent and successful Black establishments, cultural exporting significance in entertainment and celebrity, and the city’s black ass leadership with a mayor named Keisha. Some, like rapper T.I., affectionately describe it as a real-world Wakanda, partly because Black Panther was filmed there, but in reality, the underbelly of the city led by Black mayors for almost 50 years is quite seedy. George Floyd’s very public execution at the hands of the Minneapolis police galvanized the Black Lives Matter movement in the Twin Cities but Georgia natives were still reeling from the loss of Ahmaud Arbery, who was murdered by white supremacists while jogging in Brunswick, Ga. As the nation became inflamed over wi...
