HI-LO has been quiet in recent months, but Oliver Heldens‘ evil tech twin is clawing back with a vengeance next month. Using his alter ego’s Twitter, Heldens recently took to social media to announce that he is releasing a new single under his HI-LO alias next month. “ZEUS,” which will arrive on Friday, July 3rd, is the first official solo HI-LO release of 2020 and also the first since the release of “Poseidon” back in October 2019. Grunge became gold Saturday (June 20) as the guitar Kurt Cobain played on Nirvana’s 1993 MTV Unplugged performance sold for an eye-popping $6 million at auction. The 1959 Martin D-18E that Cobain played in the band’s rare acoustic performance and subsequent live album was sold to Australian Peter Freedman, owner of Røde Microphones, at the Music Icons event run by Julien’s Auctions in Beverly Hills, California. The bids opened at $1 million for the sale that ended up breaking several world records. Prince played the blindingly blue guitar with the artist’s “love” symbol on its neck beginning on the 1984 Purple Rain Tour, on the classic albums Lovesexy and Sign O’ The Times. Due to the pandemic, it was a smaller than usual group at Julien’s Auctions in Beverly Hills, but excitement still crackled through the air as spectators and bidders, held their breath, bit their lips and sat on the edges of their seats as Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain’s famed 1959 Martin D-18E acoustic guitar (and its vintage hardshell case affixed with baggage claim tags and stickers), the featured highlight of the two-day auction and prominently displayed on stage all afternoon, sold for an incredible $6.01 million to Peter Freedman from Rode Microphones who was in attendance. Chris was hit with charges of second-degree murder after claiming he acted in self-defense. Local outlet KSLA reports that Chris, real name Christopher Dooley, 31, was at a Shreveport, La. Texaco gas station in the early morning hours of this past Friday where he claims to have gotten into an alleged struggle with a man attempting to steal his car around 1 a.m. local time, thus prompting the shooting.
