According to The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards, American businessman Henry Mauriss is indeed interested in buying Newcastle United and already has a team in place to get the deal done should Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund’s £300 million takeover collapse. The project has been dubbed “serious and credible”, and Edwards took to Twitter to react to his report thus: I understand the scepticism but I’ve spent some time looking into this and I’m satisfied it’s genuine and credible enough to report. Which I have done — Luke Edwards (@LukeEdwardsTele) June 8, 2020 The Premier League is yet to make a decision on PIF’s bid, with its Owners’ and Directors’ Test already entering into the third month, and it remains to be seen what the outcome will be. Queens Park Rangers manager Mark Warburton has told Sky Sports that reported Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur target Eberechi Eze is good enough for a top-six club in the Premier League. ‘A great shame’ – Alan Shearer reacts to decision of Newcastle player

Newcastle United midfielder Matty Longstaff is expected to leave St. James’ Park when his contract expires in the coming days, with a move to Udinese on the cards. The Serie A outfit have reportedly offered the 20-year-old a five-year deal and £30,000-a-week wages. Matty is currently on a £850-a-week development contract at Newcastle, and the club have offered to up their initial offer of £15,000 to £20,000-a-week. It doesn’t appear that has done enough to convince their academy graduate as he is holding out for £25,000. The younger of the Longstaff brothers will leave the club as it stands, and Newcastle fear he will join Watford, as they have same owners as Udinese. Magpies legend Alan Shearer has shared his thoughts on the contract saga, and he believes it will be a great shame if both ...

The Athletic shares why the Premier League is delaying the Newcastle United takeover

Newcastle United fans begin another week hoping to hear the most anticipated breaking news as far as the club takeover is concerned. Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund want to seal a £300 million deal that will see 80% of the St. James’ Park outfit belong to them, and passing the Premier League’s Owners’ and Directors’ Test is the only obstacle standing in their way. The vetting-and-ratification process usually takes around three weeks, but is now entering its third month. It’s widely believed that the Newcastle takeover will eventually go through, but a longstanding piracy issue between Qatar’s beIN Sports and Saudi’s beoutQ is threatening the bid and delaying the process. According to The Athletic’s Matt Slater, “the crux of the delay is this: the Premier League cannot see a way to sa...

Report: NUFC would-be owners have told transfer guru to make them the next Man. City

According to RMC Sport, Newcastle United would-be owners have gotten in touch with former Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Antero Henrique, and the Portuguese is open to becoming a part of their project at St. James’ Park. Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund are backing a £300 million bid to buy the Magpies from owner Mike Ashley, with PCP Capital Partners’ Amanda Staveley leading talks and fronting the bid on their behalf. While the Premier League’s directors’ and owners’ test is taking forever, Newcastle would-be owners have continued to make post-takeover plans and have told Henrique they want him to make the club the next Manchester City. Pep Guardiola’s side became a force to reckon with in England when the Abu Dhabi United Group bought them in 2008, and PIF reckon the transfer...

‘Absolutely serious’: Henry Winter provides latest update on NUFC takeover

The Newcastle United takeover is turning out to be one hell of a saga where nobody knows what the outcome will be. George Caulkin of The Athletic and other reliable journalists have been telling us for the past couple of months that both the buyer and the seller are confident that the deal will go through. A deal in the region of £300 million has already been agreed between Mike Ashley and the Newcastle potential owners. The potential new owners have signed a contract and a part payment, that is non-negotiable, has been paid to Ashley as well. The would-be new owners – Amanda Staveley’s consortium — comprising her company PCP Capital Partners (10 per cent), the billionaire Reuben brothers (10 per cent) and the 80 per cent majority stakeholding of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment ...

Newcastle MP writes to Secretary of State following controversial Ashley decision

Newcastle United have refused to refund fans for games set to be played behind closed doors when the Premier League resumes. The English top-flight will return to action on June 17, with the Magpies hosting Sheffield United four days later. Five of Newcastle’s remaining nine league fixtures will take place in an empty St. James’ Park, and while other 19 EPL clubs have refunded their season ticket holders for such games, the Magpies are yet to take action or communicate their plans. Owner Mike Ashley’s decision hasn’t gone down well with Newcastle Member of Parliament Chi Onwurah, and she has written to the Secretary of State in hope that something is done. She shared a copy of the letter on her Twitter account: #NUFC are the only @premierleague team not to refund fans for games played behi...

Chris Waugh reveals how much PIF could spend on transfers without breaching FFP

According to The Athletic’s Chris Waugh, Newcastle United would-be owners could spend up to £150 million in the transfer market in a season without breaching the financial fair play. That has been made possible due to Mike Ashley’s frugality and business model. The Magpies’ margin for spending is one of the greatest among English top-flight clubs as revealed in their accounts for the year up to June 30, 2019. Excluding the £111 million of long-term interest-free loans owed to Ashley – which would be wiped out as part of the £300 million price agreed for the purchase of the club – Newcastle are debt-free and are a more attractive proposition and club well-placed for investment from prospective new owners due to the current chairman’s approach. His buy-to-sell model in the transfer market ma...

Arsenal star sends very classy message to Newcastle man

Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin has sent a message to his Newcastle United counterpart DeAndre Yedlin while reacting to his Twitter post which has since gone viral. The USA international joined the social media world in the fight against racism in a different way. While others opted to mainly buttress the fact that “black lives matter”, the Newcastle right-back gave us something deeper, explaining himself thus in the tweets below: A couple days after George Floyd’s death, my grandfather texted me and told me he’s glad that I am not living in the U.S. right now because he would fear for my life as a young black man. As days have passed, this text from my grandfather has not been able to leave my mind. — DeAndre Yedlin (@yedlinny) June 2, 2020 He was born in 1946, lived through the civil ...

‘Ticks all the boxes’: Reliable journalist delivers latest update on NUFC takeover

The waiting game continues regarding the Newcastle transfer saga as we head into another month. Although there is a firm belief that the takeover will eventually take place, the wait is not only causing frustration but is creating doubts amongst the fans as well. Last month, at one point it looked like the deal would get the green signal shortly. However, Premier League chief executive, Richard Masters, has poured cold water over the excitement by saying there’s no time limit within which they have to come to a decision. A potential £300million buyout of the club, brokered by Amanda Staveley’s PCP Capital Partners but bankrolled by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, who will own 80% of the Magpies, is going through the Premier League’s Owners and Directors checks. There’s ...

Report claims Tottenham are insistent on signing Newcastle-linked star this summer

As per Il Mattino (via Sportwitness), Jose Mourinho’s side are insistent on signing the world-class centre back. Spurs are set to be without Vertonghen next season and their interest in signing a centre back is hardly surprising. However, Koulibaly might be out of their price range. The Londoners are expected to have a limited transfer budget this summer and Koulibaly is valued at around €70m-80m based on various reports. The report claims that even if Spurs manage to convince Koulibaly to join them, the transfer is not just dependent on the player. The defender’s suitors will have to pay Napoli’s asking price and Koulib...
