Jamie Sterry has sent a heartfelt message to Newcastle United on Twitter, as he prepares to leave the club. Newcastle have announced on their official website that Sterry will leave the Magpies at the end of the month when his current contract runs out. The 24-year-old right-back came through the Magpies’ youth academy and made his first-team debut on the final day of the 2015-16 campaign during the team’s 5-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur. The defender could make just 12 appearances in all competitions for the Newcastle first team during his spell at St. James’ Park. Newcastle were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Aston Villa yesterday. Steve Bruce’s side will be disappointed to have dropped two points at home. They could have won the game but Elomohamady scored a late equaliser for the visitors. Dwight Gayle had given the home side the lead on the 68th minute but the Magpies failed to hold on to their advantage. The win leaves Newcastle 13th in the table with 39 points and they will fancy their chances of breaking into the top half before the end of the season. Steve Bruce has done a good job so far and he will want to finish the season strongly. Newcastle have looked impressive since the resumption of the Premier League. Allan Saint-Maximin put on another impressive display for the home side. The 23-year-old has been integral to Newcastle’s attack since...
Popular pundit Chris Sutton has revealed that Joelinton might not have a long term future at Newcastle United. According to him, the striker has not done enough to justify the outlay on him so far and once the new owners come in, they could look to cash in on the former Bundesliga man. Sutton said (quotes via Express): “I still don’t think it is going to happen for Joelinton. He scored one in four in Germany, he did a similar sort of ratio in Austria and then had one good season at Hoffenheim. “The money has been a massive burden for him. Steve Bruce has given him a kick as well, saying he isn’t a natural finisher. It doesn’t help when your manager is putting the boot in. “I don’t see him having a long-term future at Newcastle. If there’s a takeover, I think he will be surplus to requireme...
Celtic manager Neil Lennon has raved about Newcastle United winger Allan Saint-Maximin on BBC Sport (7:19pm, Wednesday, June 24, 2020). Lennon believes that Saint-Maximin is a “magnificent” player, and has said that the winger is “great to watch”. The Celtic boss made the comments while watching the 23-year-old winger in action for Newcastle in their Premier League game against Aston Villa at St. James’ Park on Wednesday evening. Lennon said about Saint-Maximin on BBC Sport (7:19pm, Wednesday, June 24, 2020): “Allan Saint-Maximin is just magnificent. Magnificent strength, control but he just let himself down with the finish. “The attributes that he’s got, if he can polish them off, he’d be a brilliant player. He’s great to watch. Stats Against Villa on Wednesday evening, Saint-Maximin took...
Reports emerged a week ago that Ali Jassim, a close business associate of Manchester City owner Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is serving as a broker in Saudi Arabia’s plans to buy Newcastle United through the kingdom’s sovereign wealth fund – Public Investment Fund. His role wasn’t particularly very clear at the time, but he has finally revealed it during the ongoing court case between PCP Capital Partners’ owner Amanda Staveley and Barclays. As shared by The New York Times’ Tariq Panja on Twitter, Jassim agreed a cooperation agreement to share commission if he helps to source a buyer for the Magpies, but now Staveley is now a principal and he has nothing to do it with it anymore. The businessman has no involvement now in the Newcastle deal, nor any financial interest in it. Jassim finally ...
Newcastle United blew Sheffield United away at St. James’ Park on Sunday, securing a 3-0 victory to all but guarantee Premier League safety. Second-half goals from Allan Saint-Maximin, Matt Ritchie and Joelinton handed the Magpies valuable three points, and their 10th win of the campaign saw them go 11 points clear of the relegation zone with eight games remaining. The French winger and English midfielder Isaac Hayden made Alan Shearer’s Premier League Team of the Week as a result, and they definitely deserve the spots given their stand-out performances against the Blades. Saint-Maximin’s pace and tricks proved too much for the visitors’ defence to handle, and he is pleased to have made Shearer’s TOTW, reacting thus on Twitter to the inclusion: pic.twitter.com/PiZ622fQn3 — Allan Saint-Maxi...
For the past three months, hardly a day has passed when we didn’t have any piece of new information on the Newcastle United takeover. That shows that it is arguably the most complicated takeover saga the Premier League has faced thus far, and we don’t know yet what the outcome will be. The Athletic journalist George Caulkin has been keeping the fans updated with regular information surrounding the takeover, and he has added something new on Twitter yesterday. I’ve not been asked much! The stuff that happened yesterday was viewed as positive, obviously, and significant. Haven’t heard more today. It’s the same position in the sense that everyone is still waiting. — George Caulkin (@GeorgeCaulkin) June 22, 2020 Newcastle United fans will love the fact that behind the scene actions were taken ...
Newcastle United have been linked with a move for the Roma keeper Pau Lopez. The 25-year-old has done well in Serie A this season and Journalist Francesco Balzani claims that the Magpies like the player. It would be strange if Newcastle made a move for Lopez this summer. They have much more pressing concerns and they have a quality keeper in Dubravka. Furthermore, Lopez is doing well at Roma and it is highly unlikely that he would move to Newcastle without any game time assurances. With Dubravka at the club, Newcastle cannot possibly guarantee him regular first-team football. Lopez is at the stage of his career where he wouldn’t want to be a backup option. The transfer seems highly unlikely and it could just be speculation. Darlow and Elliott are expected to leave Newcastle soon and t...
Mike Ashley has already agreed a £300m deal to sell Newcastle, and a part payment has already been made, which is non-refundable. The potential new owners – the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia, Reuben Brothers and PCP Capital Partners – are waiting for the final verdict from the Premier League. Last week it seemed like the deal could be off after The World Trade Organisation released a report where it was stated that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was behind beoutQ. However, in the past 24 hours, the authorities of Saudi Arabia have taken strong measures. According to reports from The Times, the authorities in Saudi Arabia have written to the Premier League insisting that they will do everything to prevent piracy. In fact, a crackdown has been launched on websites i...
It seems like the potential owners are getting frustrated with every passing week as the Newcastle United takeover saga goes on. Last week it felt like the deal would collapse. The World Trade Organisation released a report where it was stated that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was behind beoutQ. The ruling raised serious questions over whether the Premier League can approve the £300m takeover bid from the Saudi consortium. However, in their latest move to secure the Newcast...
Newcastle United picked up a 3-0 win over Sheffield United at home today. Goals from Matt Ritchie, Allan Saint-Maximin and Joelinton secured a vital win for Steve Bruce’s side. Newcastle have now managed to complete a league double over the Blades this season. The win leaves Newcastle 12th in the table, 11 points clear of the drop zone. It is safe to assume that the Magpies will stay in the Premier League next season. Meanwhile, Sheffield United will be bitterly disappointed with their performance. They were excellent before the lockdown but their form has dipped since the resumption. They were held to a draw against Villa in their opening game post-lockdown and now a defeat leaves them seventh in the table. Former Newcastle star Alan Shearer has now reacted to the 3-0 win on Twitter. His ...
