<span class="localtime" data-ltformat="F j, Y | g:ia" data-lttime="2021-05-21T14:48:12+00:00“>May 21, 2021 | 10:48am ET Stöner, a new project from former Kyuss members Brant Bjork and Nick Oliveri, have announced their debut album, Stoners Rule. The seven-song LP arrives June 25th via Heavy Psych Sounds, and has been preceded by the single “Nothin’”. Kyuss are considered pioneers of the desert/stoner rock style, and Oliveri and Bjork are fully embracing the “stoner” tag with their new outfit, hence the band’s name. The single “Nothin’” dabbles in sludgy riffs, meditative repetition, and a general 420-friendliness. The desertscape on the album cover also calls back to Kyuss’ legendary 1992 album, Blues for the Red Sun. In addition t...

The track will appear on DeYoung’s final studio album, 26 East, Vol. 2, which arrives June 11th. While Styx certainly made their mark as a hard-rocking band, DeYoung is also known for his ballads like “Babe” and “Lady”, making his collaboration with Morello a bit of an unlikely partnership. “The Last Guitar Hero” has a throwback Styx sound with a blistering solo from Morello at the 2:30 mark. The song is the second single from DeYoung’s forthcoming album, following last month’s release of ...

The band was set to embark on a 2020 tour complete with a nine-piece band that was canceled due to COVID, but the legendary frontman made use of the time off to gather some of his musical peers for a new single due out on May 21st. “MEND” was written by Foo Fighters’ Taylor Hawkins, who also plays on the track alongside E...

The new track is a soft, intimate ballad that highlights Kennedy’s powerful voice. “There’s a craving that will never come to pass/ There’s a hunger that will never cease to last/ There’s an aching that lies deep within my soul/ For the promise that someday I could be whole,” he croons over acoustic and slide guitar. The song’s sound recalls Kennedy’s debut solo album, Year of the Tiger, which was completely acoustic. Lyrics-...

In advance of its July 23rd release via Epitaph, the band has unleashed the first single, “Baby Doncha Know”. The California punk band’s early lineup of guitarist Frank Navetta, bassist Tony Lombardo, and drummer Bill Stevenson actually hit the studio to record 9th & Walnut in 2002. The material was culled from songs that were initially conceived or crudely recorded during the band’s early years of 1977 through 1980, including ones that were written before singer Milo Aukerman joined the band in 1980. The tracks had ...

The song features guest vocals from Joe Talbot of fellow UK punk act IDLES. The album cycle for End of Suffering didn’t quite go as planned for Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes. Carter was involved in a serious car accident in the fall of 2019, forcing the band to postpone their North American tour. And then, like every other music act, they were forced off the road in 2020 due to the pandemic, but did perform a “By Request” livestream show in November. “‘My Town’ is a bruising metaphor fo...
