The humorous clip stars Full House actor John Stamos alongside chimpanzees that literally reenact the song’s lyrics. The track hails from the punk-rock veterans’ latest album, Let the Bad Times Roll, and tells the tale of an aging couple who’ve lost the spark. In the video, the couple’s played by two chimpanzees with extraordinary acting abilities. The husband chimp, dressed in a shirt and tie, comes home to his wife from work, but his sexual advances are rebuffed. When the wife chimp, donning a nightgown, tries to move in later in the evening, she’s ...

It’s the latest taste from No Gods No Masters, the alternative rock band’s seventh studio album, and first in five years. Featuring New Wave synths, the track finds Shirley Manson taking control of her own destiny. “The future is mine just the same,” she sings. “No master or gods to obey/ I’ll make the same mistakes/ Over and over again.” In a statement, Manson said the single was inspired by a visit to recent protests in Santiago, Chile. “We were driving down the street, and the whole city was covered in graffiti, like all the old museums...

They wrote, recorded, and produced BUMMER with their close friend Jig Dubé. In a statement, Gruntz described the process as “just three kids with some fuzz pedals and a point to prove.” “FAMILY VAN” features a grooving bassline and thrashing guitars, with vocals that vacillate between a rapped delivery and a frenzied y...

Now they’re premiering the music video for the track “Live by the Gun” exclusively via Heavy Consequence ahead of the release. The song is a classic punk rock anthem, raging against war mongering politicians and the right-wing establishment. A definite UK punk influence can be heard in the driving power chords — played by McKagan on guitar — and defiant attitude of singer John Conte. With lyrics like, “Shoot shoot shoot the gun/ Kill kill kill kill...

Wu-Lu self-produced the track, which features drumming by Morgan Simpson of black midi. It quietly rages beneath the surface like turn-of-the-century alternative rock, but never reaches the thrashing crescendo of his previous single, “South”. As he explained in a press statement, the song is about self-discovery and coming of age in these turbulent times. He said, “It’s of understanding that with time comes wisdom. Living life teaches us everything we can to bounce back, we are made of more than...

The song was recorded over a year ago and is finally seeing an official release. “The music to ‘Inversion’ was very squatter punk at first,” Schreifels said of the track’s noticeable hardcore tilt. “To get something going ...
Spencer Krug of Wolf Parade has announced his new album, Fading Graffiti. Due out on April 16th as the first release on his own Pronounced Kroog label, the LP marks Krug’s first album under his own name. He previously released several solo projects as Moonface and Sunset Rubdown. Spanning 10 songs, Fading Graffiti reimagines piano ballads originally posted on Krug’s Patreon page, which was used to help fund the creation of the album. Aided by a full band, the tracks were recontextualized as indie rock songs. “It’s kind of neat the way these songs transformed,” Krug told Stereogum in a new interview. “The piano versions were more fussy and intricate, because that’s how I end up writing on piano. I had an urge to simplify them a little bit, because I could hear some mellow soft-rock numbers ...
