The First Lady, Aisha Buhari, has called on Nigerians to continue praying to witness the end of COVID-19 Pandemic as Nigeria prepares to mark her 60th independence anniversary. The First Lady during a Public Lecture to mark Nigeria’s 60th Independence anniversary at the National Mosque, Abuja, urged Nigerians to offer special prayers for peace, progress and sustainable development of the country. “We need to pray for forgiveness and a special prayer for forgiveness. The world is no longer the same as a result of the pandemic, and the pandemic is a sign that almighty God is not happy with us. Nasarawa governor raises alarm over Islamic sect

Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has on Wednesday raised an alarm over the presence of Darus Salam sect in the state. Governor Sule, who attributed the recent kidnappings and banditry in the state to the dreaded Darus Salam group, appealed to the federal government for deployment of more security personnel to the state to handle the situation. Governor Sule who made the appeal when he visited President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa Abuja to brief him on security situation in the state called for the intervention of the federal government. Nigeria governors meet Wednesday on quick way out of coronavirus effects

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum says it will meet on Wednesday to review the situation of COVID-19 pandemic in various states, and as well find paths for a quick way out of the effects of the pandemic. The forum made this known in a statement by Abdulrazaque Bello-Barkindo, NGF Head, Media and Public Affairs, in Abuja on Tuesday. Bello-Barkindo said issues to be discussed at the 8th teleconference meeting, according to the invitation sent from the NGF Director-General, Mr Asishana Bayo Okauru, include update from the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19. He also listed a new initiative codenamed CACOVID-Volunteer Health Workers Support Scheme to States, including a consideration for a CACOVID–Healthcare Training Proposal, among others.
