Over the weekend, Dave Grohl answered 1o-year-old phenom Nandi Bushell’s challenge to a drum-off and played Foo Fighters’ “Everlong” — which he said he hasn’t played since originally recording it. He then busted out “Dead End Friends” by Them Crooked Vultures. Grohl finished it by playfully challenging Bushell to respond. And she did. In a new video posted to her YouTube channel, Bushell (dressed just like Grohl) took on “Dead End Friends”, which features the phrases “Grohl rocks” and “Rock for equality” with the Os turned into peace signs. To up the ante even more, the young musician imitated nearly every move the Foo Fighters frontman did as well. After powering through the tune, Bushell screamed “CHECKMATE!” She continued by saying “The rock Gods are smiling upon us.” Up...
At this point, everyone should be familiar with Nandi Bushell’s ability to rock, but today may have marked a new high in her musical venture, as Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl responded to her request for a drum battle from earlier this month. Sitting at his daughter Harper’s drum set in one of his seemingly limitless number of flannel shirts, Grohl, who recently appeared in Bill & Ted Face the Music, busted out a good chunk of “Everlong” — which he said he hasn’t played since originally recording it — before switching over to “Dead End Friends” by Them Crooked Vultures. Always a good sport, the Nirvana drummer also told Bushell that he likes her videos and has received 100 texts about her initial challenge. Grohl finished the recording by playfully challenging Bushell to respond, so it...
If you’re wondering what the future of rock music looks like, Nandi Bushell can show you. She dropped a video covering Audioslave’s “Cochise.” While cover videos aren’t a new thing, the 10-year-old British-Zulu musician shows all her musical skills and played the bass, the drums and a special guitar that was gifted to her by Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello. Giving each note all her energy, Bushell looked like she played each instrument with so much ease. “Dear @tommorello and @bradwilk,” she captioned the YouTube video, “thank you for always for supporting me. I made this cover of #Cochise for you both. @tommorello I LOVE my new #soulpower @fender #guitar! It’s AMAZING!!! #audioslave wow! So Good! Thank you: @fender @ludwigdrumshq @zildjiancompany @vicfirth @roland.artists @roland_u...
Musicians from across the country are doing their part to protest police brutality and racism this week and, in the process, they’re inspiring a lot of young people to do the same. Multi-instrumentalist Nandi Bushell, the 10-year-old, one-kid band, posted an electrifying cover of Rage Against the Machine’s “Guerrilla Radio” on Monday in support of the Black Lives Matter movement, as she jammed out on three different instruments with a BLM sign taped to her drum kit. The sign of solidarity, coupled with her love of RATM, has gotten attention on Twitter, as the young drummer extraordinaire has earned nearly 6,000 likes as of Monday afternoon. RATM’s guitarist Tom Morello even shared Bushell’s tweet, writing “Well now we are on the right track.” Bushell’s videos have had millions of views sin...
