Nancy Wilson Shares ‘Amigo Amiga’ in Honor of Taylor Hawkins

On the eve of the second Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert, Heart co-founder Nancy Wilson has just shared the tribute track she wrote for the late drummer, “Amigo Amiga,” which she began writing the day of passing. [embedded content][embedded content] At the request of the Foo Fighters, Wilson will perform the track tomorrow (Sept. 27) at the honorary event in Los Angeles. “The night we heard about losing Taylor I started writing the song,” Wilson said of the new song in a statement. “I heard myself in tears saying ‘too soon too soon’ which became a refrain in the song. I spent quite a few sleepless nights trying to express it all. He was a wonderful friend and we always had funny pet names for each other like Amigo and Amiga as well as Luv and Dahling. 30 Artists Reflect on 30 Years of Pearl Jam’sTen

The story has been told thousands of times, but it bears repeating: Pearl Jam should never have happened. The ’90s had just begun. In March 1990, the promising Seattle rock band Mother Love Bone was about to unveil their debut album. He made a few demos that landed in the hands of a surfer from San Diego via Chicago who got them from ex-Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Jack Irons. The surfer’s name was Eddie Vedder. The songs he sent back? “Alive,” “Once,” and “Footsteps.” Pearl Jam formed around t...

Nancy Wilson Puts Her Heart Into You and I

Almost 40 years later, Wilson—best known as the guitar-slinging sister in the chart-topping and multi-million-selling band Heart—looks even cuter with a post-yoga glow and her hair in pigtails, that same smile in place.  Wilson should be smiling. Her first official solo album, the recently released You and Me (1999’s low-key album of covers, Live at McCabe’s Guitar Shop, notwithstanding), debuted at Number 1 on Billboard’s Top New Artist chart, and in the Top 10 of other notable charts.  With a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and four Grammy nominati...
