Illenium and X Ambassadors Unveil Scintillating Stripped Version of “In Your Arms”

Illenium and X Ambassadors today shared the “Stripped” version of their collaborative single “In Your Arms,” which appeared on the former’s Ascend LP back in August 2019. Peeling the original down to its barebones, Illenium and X Ambassadors have delivered a poignant rework of the original track that displays the classically-trained side of both artists. Illenium’s most recent release came earlier in the month of April, when he uncorked a monster collaboration with dubstep don Excision called “Feel Something” featuring I Prevail. Additionally, their fan favorite debut B2B set from Lost Lands 2019 was uploaded in full by the festival’s organizers. Illenium and Sam Harris of X Ambassadors also performed the original &#...

Baauer Drops Second Single from Forthcoming Album Alongside Alien-Inspired Music Video

Baauer today unveiled the second single from his upcoming Planet’s Mad LP, “AETHER,” a haunting trap tune that was released alongside a video game-inspired music video directed by Actual Objects (Rick Farin and Claire Cochran). “AETHER” is a dark, menacing trap number with ferocious breakbeats and thunderous 808s that sounds like it’s straight out of an action scene from Blade Runner. The accompanying music video laces the track through an alien landscape, taking viewers on an audiovisual journey through the mind of one of the most forward-thinking producer in electronic music. Along with “AETHER” comes a b-side track called “YEHOO,” a quirky, moombah-inspired bass single produced in collaboration with fellow P...

Bass Prodigy A Hundred Drums Delivers Dynamic New Single “19”

California-grown, Denver-based recording artist A Hundred Drums was supposed to be playing Bassnectar’s Deja Voom and Freestyle Sessions events in the first half of 2020, but like the rest of us, her live music plans have been sidelined for the foreseeable future by the impact of COVID-19. Today, however, she’s plugging back into the bass community and culture by delivering an electrifying new single, “19,” which displays how she’s using quarantine to cultivate an even more palatable sonic storyline. A Hundred Drums has honed in on creating her multi-instrumental bass music project since starting out in 2006. Fusing elements of modern electronic music with tantalizing, genre-defiant soundscapes, the Redondo Beach native earned co-signs and bookings from various artists, li...

Malaa Drops a Funky Homage to Stoners with “Four Twenty”

Malaa is here to represent for all the stoners out there who feel like every day is 4/20 with his brand new single. The French ski-masked artist shared that “Four Twenty” was originally supposed to come out on April 20th, but in true stoner fashion, the producer got a little too high. The intoxicating, aptly-titled single is the perfect soundtrack to blast as we enter into yet another weekend of self-isolation. The single samples Dr. Dre‘s iconic track “Let’s Get High,” transforming it with a funky G-House production, ambient chatter that is great for imagining you’re surrounded by all your friends, and Malaa’s signature use of sirens. Stoners and non-stoners alike can get down with a bassline like this, artfully crafted t...

Today the pair released their cover of Bon Iver’s 2014 single “Heavenly Father,” producing a soaring future bass rework that serves as a refreshing electronic twist on the original. Iconic indie folk band Bon Iver released “Heavenly Father” back in summer 2014 before the track appeared on the soundtrack to Scrubs star Zach Braff‘s film Wish I Was Here. Boys Noize Surprises Fans With Raw Analog Album “STRICTLY BVNKER”

Boys Noize surprised his fans today with a brand new mini album called STRICTLY BVNKER. Recorded during livestreams via Twitch over the course of the last few days of April, the final project is a microcosm of Boys Noize’s raw analogue sessions. Spanning 7 tracks, STRICTLY BVNKER oozes with the dark, ominous flavors that catapulted Boys Noize to the upper echelon of electronic music in the early 2000s. The project proves that he’s still riding that pinnacle, representing a pristine song-cycle of electro house and breaks that are bursting at the seams with industrial flair. Each track is ideal for an underground warehouse party and they encompass a broad range of electronic subgenres, including midtempo (“4TWNTY2”), breaks (“Mftrfckr”), and left...

Marshmello and Halsey Channel the 80s With New Collaboration “Be Kind”

Earlier this week, Marshmello teased a forthcoming collaboration with Halsey. Luckily fans did not have to wait long for the radio-ready hit “Be Kind,” which dropped everywhere yesterday.  The conversational summer song explores the struggles of opening up and demonstrating vulnerability in the context of a serious relationship. Listeners will also likely notice the instrumental choices are reminiscent of 80s-style dance music. Both artists have let the music speak for itself for the most part, but Halsey did mention the stylistic influence of the era played a role in shaping the single. Marshmello and Halsey have had nothing short of prolific presences within dance music in recent years. Halsey’s feature on The Chainsmokers‘ “Closer” helped so...

Jordan Burns Drops Stunning Deep House Ballad “Anyone”

Brisbane-based producer Jordan Burns today released his new single “Anyone,” a captivating, melodic deep house tune that beautifully roams the euphoric peaks and brooding valleys of both future and deep house. At a slow-burning 124 BPM, “Anyone” is more ballad than banger. Burns employs lush pads, melancholic chord progressions, and the velvety “anytime” vox sample, which is shrewdly pitched down, to set the tone in the verses. Eschewing the use of crunchy saws and metallic bass patches, like he did with his April 2nd release of the menacing “Blown (feat. I.E),” Burns opts for more honeyed, melodic production elements here. The subtle nuances of his refreshing sound are evident throughout, like his sporadic use of airy vocal chops i...

SLANDER and SVDDEN DEATH today offered up a teaser of their forthcoming collaboration, which is not for the faint of heart. SLANDER took to Twitter to share the title of the thunderous bass tune, “Blood On Me,” as well as a short clip of its build and drop. After announcing the collab on Twitter last week, the two dubstep and trap heavyweights linked up for a monster B2B set during the recent Bassrush livestream and debuted the single. Elements of both SVDDEN DEATH and SLANDER’s respective sounds are present in “Blood On Me.” You can hear the vicious, metallic drop patches of the former meld seamlessly with the orchestral strings of the latter, both of which coalesce into a forward-thinking bass single that fans are undoubtedly clamoring for. As of the ti...

Tchami Showcases Eclectic, House-Driven Remix Package for “Proud”

Back in February, Tchami dropped two of the lead singles from his forthcoming debut album. At the time, one of them was the atmospheric “Proud” featuring Daecolm. Now, Tchami has shared six unique takes on the song in the official “Proud” remix package, which features DOGMA, Hooders, TRACE, Steffan Clay, Kohmi, and DJ Craze.  Despite being primarily a house-centric package, this lineup of remixers found plenty of room to explore and craft their own unique offerings. DOGMA starts things off working in a very danceable bassline and lofting melodies. Hooders brings in an increasingly intricate drum arrangement into his version with a bass-driven melody. TRACE gave added attention to the lead, crafting a quick-cutting synth running through an ethereal vocal backdro...

These two artists have come together to create a single that channels a familiar feeling every star-crossed lover has come across. He is a great artist.”  “Mystery” opens with a warm guitar chord, as Trove’s emotive vocals beckon their way in. The pop-centric tone expands into a bright, explosive future bass drop, evoking that feeling w...
