Desiigner “Letter To Ye,” Jim Jones & Migos “We Set The Trends” & More | Daily Visuals 12.10.21

HipHopWired Featured Video For a while there it seemed like Desiigner was in the ideal situation when he was signed to Kanye’s GOOD Music Records imprint. Unfortunately things didn’t pan out and the Brooklyn rapper began to campaign for his release and eventually got his wish. Looking for some kind of closure to the situation, Desiigner dropped some visuals to “Letter To Ye” in which he reminisces about the good times he had under Yeezy’s mentorship while burning down some sticky-icky and playing stock footage of his shows with the man formerly known as Kanye West. Ye must not be returning his calls or something. Back in Uptown, Jim Jones rolls out the red carpet for his Atlanta brethren and for the visuals to “We Set The Trend” has the Migos drop through Harlem where they show off ridicul...

It’s Over: Kim Kardashian Files To Be Legally Single Despite Kanye Wanting Her Back

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Gotham / Getty It looks like Kim Kardashian is over it. The reality star has filed paperwork to become legally single, even after Kanye West used his massive platform to beg for her to come back, repeatedly. Should anyone be surprised considering she was the one who filed for divorce, though? And you know it’s real since she’s reportedly going to formally drop “West” from her name. Reports TMZ: Related Stories Kim filed legal docs Friday … which if signed off by a judge, will make her officially single. She’s essentially asking the judge to separate issues of child custody and property from marital status. Kim is also asking that her maiden name be restored … aka, drop the “West.” It’s interesting … Kim’s lawyer is disso queen Laura Wasser, who has f...

LaFlame Out: Coachella Removes Travis Scott From 2022 Festival

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Emma McIntyre / Getty Things haven’t been easy for Travis Scott ever since 10 people lost their lives at his Astroworld concert a few weeks back. And it seems like the fallout will continue for the foreseeable future as his career is suffering the consequences of the tragic concert. Aside from getting sued for millions by the families of the victims of the dearly departed, Travis Scott has been losing some of his business ventures and his performance cancellation at Coachella is the latest example of the toxicity that Travis Scott’s name carries with it. According to Variety, the “Highest In The Room” rapper has been taken off Coachella’s 2022 lineup due to the backlash that keeping him on the roster might get them as a Change.org petition to kick him off...

You can find it all in one place here. Not to be dramatic, but the absence of live music for the majority of 2020 was miserable. In the face of some serious global trauma, many of us were looking for a communal experience to lift us up. Yet, with each scary news headline came an even scarier thought: Would live music ever return? And when it did, would it be the same? Lucky for us concertgoers, the first major wave of COVID-19 vaccinations in early 2021 allowed for us to visualize a world in which concerts could return safely, and as summer rolled around, we emerged from the fray and experienced live music again. ...

Comedian of the Year Bo Burnham Captured Our Collective Anxiety in 2021

Our 2021 Annual Report continues with the announcement of Bo Burnham as our Comedian of the Year. As the year winds down, stay tuned for more awards, lists, and articles about the best music, film, and TV of 2021. You can find it all in one place here. There’s a moment of context in Bo Burnham’s Inside where things start to click in a different way, and the whole special gets cast in a new light. At the end of the first verse and chorus of “All Eyes on Me,” Burnham describes making the decision to return to stand up comedy after a four-year hiatus from the form. In a supremely ironic fashion, he made this decision in January 2020, finally deciding that he was ready to be vulnerable in front of an audience again — all before a global shutdown. Hindsight is (clears throat) 20/20, but regardl...
