Giorgio Moroder is auctioning off the prototype of a sports car he developed in the 1980s with Italian mechanic and Lamborghini specialist Claudio Zampolli. The 1988 Cizeta-Moroder V16T is the concept build of a vehicle in which Moroder had heavily invested, but which never entered production. The auction happens on January 27 in Phoenix, Arizona. See more about the car—including photos—via RM Sotheby’s. The appeal of the Cizeta-Moroder V16T was a proposed V16 engine, which could have pushed the car past speeds of 200 miles an hour, according to a March 1989 article in Car and Driver that described it as a “big, meaty Italian supercar.” Zampolli connected with Moroder through his auto-repair business in Los Angeles, which serviced the musician’s Lamborghini Countach. The deaths of 10 people at Travis Scott’s 2021 Astroworld Festival have been deemed accidental by the Harris county medical examiner. According to reports, the medical examiner’s findings eliminated homicide as a cause of death and showed that the concertgoers — Mirza Danish Baig, Rodolfo Angel Pena, Madison Alexis Dubiski, Franco Cesar Patino, Jacob E. Jurine, John W. Hilgert, Axel Beltsasar Acosta Avila, Brianna Rodriguez, Bharti Shahani and Ezra Blount — died from compression asphyxia. UT Health Houston acute care trauma surgeon Dr. Ron Albarado described it as a condition that is “caused by a force from the front or back preventing the lungs from expanding,” with deaths possibly taking place in a span of 15 to 20 minutes during a crowd surge. “This re-opens a fresh wound for many famil...
Very rich and often delirious musician Eric Clapton has successfully sued a German woman for selling a single bootlegged recording of one of his concerts from the 1980s on eBay. As DW points out, Clapton sent a Düsseldorf court an affidavit stating that the recordings were illegal. The defendant claimed she didn’t know she was infringing copyright, selling a recording for €9.95, or the equivalent of about $11. Stating that her late husband had purchased the original CD at a department store in 1987, the defendant appealed to the court, which was rejected. The judge ruled that it did not matter that she hadn’t purchased the CD herself and did not know the recording was done illegally. Clapton’s injunction requires the defendant to pay the legal fees of both parties, which come out to about ...
