Watch Björk in New Trailer for Viking Revenge Film The Northman
The first official trailer for The Northman is here. Robert Eggers’ viking revenge film, which stars Björk, Nicole Kidman, Alexander Skarsgård, Willem Dafoe, and Ethan Hawke, is in theaters April 22, 2022. The film, set in 10th century Iceland, follows a Viking prince avenging his murdered father. Production resumed in August last year after a long pandemic-related delay. Eggers co-wrote the screenplay with the Icelandic poet and longtime Björk collaborator Sjón. Focus Features will release the film in the United States; Universal has the international rights. In anticipation, the first trailer has been released. Watch it below. In The Northman, Skarsgård plays Amieth, a Viking prince seeking revenge for his murdered father. The story is based on the medieval Scandinavian legend, which served as the inspiration for Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Ethan Hawke plays Ameith’s father, King Horvendill, who is married to Queen Gudrun (portrayed by Kidman). Björk, making her first on-screen appearance since 2000’s Dancer in the Dark, plays The Slav Witch. The late Juice WRLD is opening this week’s Billboard 200 at No. 2 with Fighting Demons. The artist’s second posthumous album is debuting with 119,000 equivalent album units including 110,000 in streaming equivalent album units (155.49 million on-demand streams of the songs), 5,000 in track equivalent album units and 4,000 in album sales. Music fans voted in a poll that was published Friday (Dec. 17) on Billboard, choosing “Tears in the Club” as their favorite new music release of the past week. “Tears in the Club,” the first team-up between the two artists, brought in just over half of the vote at 52.43%. It’s a very merry Christmas for Ed Sheeran and Elton John as their holiday-themed collaboration snags a second week atop of the U.K. chart. “Merry Christmas” (Atlantic) leads a new frame that features 24 Christmas songs in the Top 40. According to the Official Charts Company, that’s a new all-time chart record for the most Christmas-themed songs in the chart a week prior to the Dec. 25 holiday. Carlos Marin, Singer in Classic Crossover Act Il Divo, Dies at 53
Carlos Marín, who was part of the British singing group Il Divo, died Sunday at age 53. The cause of death was not revealed; however, he had been hospitalized recently. The group announced his death via its Instagram account. “It is with heavy hearts that we are letting you know that our friend and partner, Carlos Marin, has passed away,” the post reads. “He will be missed by his friends, family and fans. There will never be another voice or spirit like Carlos. For 17 years the four of us have been on this incredible journey of Il Divo together, and we will miss our dear friend.
