Riding high off her viral Blondie cover, Miley Cyrus has announced she’s got a special TV performance on the way as part of the legendary MTV Unplugged series. The full title is MTV Unplugged Presents “Miley Cyrus Backyard Sessions” and it’s set to air later this month. According to a press release, Cyrus will reimagine the iconic music series from the comfort of her backyard in Los Angeles. In addition to performing a stripped-down version of her new single “Midnight Sky” and other songs from her career, the Younger Now singer will also break out covers of Pearl Jam, The Cardigans, and “Gimme More” by Britney Spears. This week, Pearl Jam have launched a vote-by-mail initiative called “Take-Three Pledge: Vote by Mail, Recruit Three Friends, and Don’t Wait” to encourage fans nationwide to take part in the upcoming 2020 presidential election. The three-step pledge is quick and easy to do. After registering to vote (or indicating that they already are), fans are shown city- and state-specific information regarding their upcoming elections. The 1959 Martin D-18E acoustic-electric guitar far surpassed its original estimate of $1 million dollars. The sale set five new world records, including the most expensive guitar ever sold and the most expensive piece of band memorabilia ever sold. The buyer was Peter Freedman, founder of RØDE Microphones, who plans to display the guitar in a worldwide exhibition tour, with all proceeds going to the performing arts organizations. It’s a 1959 Martin D-18E acoustic-electric guitar and it’s reportedly valued at $1,000,000. The Martin D-18E comes with its original hard-shell case decorated by Cobain, including a flyer from Poison Idea’s 1990 album Feel the Darkness, three baggage claim ticket stubs, and an Alaska Airlines sticker.
