MTN to Focus on African Markets and Ditch Middle East

MTN has announced that it is focusing its strategy on the African markets. “As part of our ongoing portfolio review, we believe the group is best served to focus in the future on our pan-African strategy,” says MTN Group CEO, Rob Shuter. “We will, therefore, be exiting the Middle East in an orderly manner over the medium term. As a first step, we are in advanced discussions to sell our 75% stake in MTN Syria.” The news comes after the telco announced that it added 11 million subscribers in the first six months of the year to reach a total base of 262 million. MTN Ranked as the Most Admired African Brand

MTN has again been ranked as the ‘Most Admired African Brand’ based on spontaneous consumer responses in Brand Africa 100: Africa’s Best Brands 2020 survey. The survey, which was released on Monday, shows that MTN is also the only African brand in the rankings of the ‘Most Admired Brands in Africa’. Covering 27 countries, representing around 80% of the population and the GDP of Africa, the group is now also considered one of the continent’s most admired media brands. MTN Donates 5000 Smartphones to COVID-19 Field Workers

Sourced from Business Tech MTN Business has announced that it will donate 5 000 smartphones, each preloaded with 3GB of data, to the Limpopo Provincial Department of Health. These devices are to be distributed to field workers for the conducting of tests, screening of citizens and tracing of people that may have come into contact with patients that have been found to have the coronavirus. In addition to the smartphones, MTN has also pledged to conduct free after-sales services such as repairs device replacement, on-site device support, service and account management. MTN Plans to Re-open Stores across South Africa

Sourced from The Techie Guy As South Africa’s economy slowly starts regaining traction, MTN has announced that all of its 410 stores across the country would reopen. Around eighty per cent of MTN’s stores already began trading on May 1.
