Helen Paul: I was told to create scandals if I wanted to be popular
Nigerian comedienne and actress, Helen Paul, has stated that she was once told to indulge herself in scandals so that she would get a huge fanbase on social media. The entertainer disclosed this in a recent Instagram live session with Doyin Hassan, Movie Director and actor. Helen stated that during the early days of her career, she had met a talent manager and subsequently indicated her interest to work with him. The 38-year-old actress said the talent manager, however, refused her request, saying that she would have to indulge herself in one or two scandals to garner more popularity before the pair could work together. CAPPA launches #SmokeFreeNollywood campaign
The Corporate Accountability and Public Participation Africa (CAPPA) has called for adult rating for films with smoking scenes, anti-smoking adverts, anti-smoking health warnings, certified no pay-offs, stop identification of tobacco brands and a total ban on tobacco products placement in the Nigerian movie industry — Nollywood. The rights group made the call at its launch of the #SmokeFreeNollywood campaign in Lagos, last Saturday, noting that tobacco kills as many as six million people annually, and is projected to kill as much as eight million people by the year 2030, if nothing is done.
