Celebrate Transgender Awareness Week With Music from These Non-Binary and Trans EDM Artists

we spotlighted five trans and non-binary electronic music trailblazers in order to promote their courage, unmatched talent, and flat out badassery. While we may lose sight of our values at times, it’s important to remember and revisit the roots from which they blossomed. A value at the core of EDM is inclusivity, and despite dubious economic and social challenges that never seem to cease, the dance music community must remember that it welcomes all walks of life. There is something to be said about strength in numbers. Today is the beginning of 2020’s Transgender Awareness Week, which is annually observed during the second week of November. The celebration memorializes the transgender community by raising awareness about the identities of its members. It also aims to educate pe...

Moore Kismet Keeps the New Music Flowing With Latest Single, “You Should Run”

Moore Kismet is one of the busiest producers in the electronic world today, balancing their budding music career with all of the demands of high school. Even so, they have managed to keep their fans on their toes, releasing three new singles just this fall.  Out October 30th, “You Should Run” is the producer’s latest, marking their debut release on Night Mode. Featuring songwriter and vocalist Pauline Herr, the track surprises with its melodic drop and bright, radiant synth details, helping it stand out amongst Moore Kismet’s trap-dominated discography. In fact, with its hollowed out bass line and softer sonics, “You Should Run” couldn’t be further from the artist’s trap-minded origins. However, with its magnificently arra...

Moore Kismet Pushes for Body Positivity With Latest Single, “Beauty Is A Facade”

Guess who’s back, back again?  15-year-old Moore Kismet has returned with their third release in just under two months, titled “Beauty Is A Facade.” The track, released by Bassrush, is an ode to body positivity and self-acceptance, blending trap with hard-hitting synths to make a single that is truly one-of-a-kind.  “Beauty Is A Facade” starts off with subtlety, arranging wind chimes, vocal swells and a slow-growing percussion line to set a dreamy, mysterious mood. In classic Moore Kismet fashion, the single slowly progresses into a smashing trap drop full of whirring synths and thudnerous bass punches. It pulls in vocal samples, driving snares and dramatic transitions to place it stylistically right in line with its preceding release, “Drift&#...

Fresh Off EP Release, Moore Kismet Returns With Banging New Single “Drift”

Moore Kismet has a need for speed—when it comes to releasing new music, that is. Released September 11th, “Drift” featuring Bajillionaire is the latest from the 15-year-old prodigy, who released their Revenge of the Unicorns EP just last month. This new single, out via Bassrush Records, is an innovative addition to the artist’s discography, using new production techniques unveiled in ROTU to emote the scattered feelings involved in troubling relationships, which Bajillionaire vocalizes through the song’s lyrics.  “Drift” is also a surprising blend of trap-influenced synths and bass notes with these new techniques. It makes for a softer kind of head-banger, bringing the heat with hard-hitting downbeats while inviting the listener to follow along with...

Moore Kismet Hits Sonic Gold with New EP “Revenge of the Unicorns”

At only 15-years-old, electronic producer Moore Kismet is quickly growing into one of the most promising and forward thinking artists of their time. This year, they’ve already performed livestream sets for HARD Summer‘s Virtual Rave-a-Thon series and Brownies & Lemonade‘s Digital Mirage 2, and today, they’re continuing the momentum with the release of Revenge of the Unicorns. Comprised of six new tracks, Revenge of the Unicorns is the artist’s third in just two years, out via Never Say Die. Favorites include “Self Expression,” an electro funk-infused showstopper premiered by EDM.com, and “Flair” featuring Momma Kismet, the artist’s mother. From the quirk-filled dreamy soundscapes of “Flair” and ...

Moore Kismet Premieres “Self Expression” and Talks Inclusivity-Driven Message Behind Upcoming EP [Interview]

Out August 14th via Never Say Die Records, “Revenge of the Unicorns” will be the producer’s third EP. For the average 15-year-old, life is still pretty simple. They might pass their time on TikTok, learn how to drive a car, or get a low stakes after-school job. For prodigal producer Moore Kismet, their day-to-day isn’t all that different—just add playing high-profile livestream concerts, traveling for gigs, and consistently making trailblazing music. This week, the artist can also tack on the release of their third EP, Revenge of the Unicorns. Out Friday, August 14th via Never Say Die, the six-track EP includes the previously released “Flair,” featuring Momma Kismet, their mother, “Adore” with Leotrix and “Duplex” with V...

Celebrate Pride Month with Music from These Extraordinarily Talented, Openly Gay EDM Artists

In solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement and all those fighting for racial equality following the death of George Floyd, many in the music industry, including EDM.com, temporarily ceased business operations on Tuesday, June 2nd to align with those fighting for a better future.  However, let us not forget about another vastly marginalized group of people—the LGBTQ community, who are now celebrating Pride Month. There are many core values at EDM’s bedrock, but perhaps the most paramount is inclusivity. Whether it is through the genre’s innately euphoric sonic flair or its ineffable proclivity to unify ravers at festivals, electronic music brings people together regardless of gender or the color of their skin. Ergo, it goes without saying that the EDM and ...

Mother and Child Collaborate on Massive Trap Single in Moore Kismet’s “Flair”

Today we get to hear something we very rarely get to experience—a musical collaboration between mother and child. Moore Kismet, the 15-year-old electronic prodigy, is back with the help of their mother, Momma Kismet, to deliver an impressive trap single titled “Flair” via Never Say Die. Having a mother who is a semi-professional singer has its perks, even if they don’t lend their voice to the track, like in the case of “Flair.” Instead, Momma Kismet shared her expertise by helping to craft the melody. The result is a bright, glitch-fueled piece of art that evokes the early work of AraabMuzik. Plus, the Skype loading sound clip is such a simple but effective way to convey emotion, especially when the piece is tied to their mother.  “Wr...
