Justice Denied: Minneapolis Prosecutors Say No Criminal Charges Filed In Killing Of Amir Locke

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Stephen Maturen / Getty Minneapolis prosecutors announced Wednesday that there will be no justice for Amir Locke. The prosecutors effectively made clear, just as Louisville, Kentucky, authorities did in the case of Breonna Taylor, that a cop isn’t responsible for wrongdoing so long as they can say they were on the job and in fear for their lives. Amir’s fear doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter that Locke was sleeping when cops burst through the door in service of a warrant the 22-year-old wasn’t named in. It doesn’t matter that the gun Locke was holding was one he owned legally—which gave him a right to protect himself with it—when Officer Mark Hanneman shot him to death for holding it. Amir’s Black life didn’t matter. According to the New York Times, prose...

Like Boogie T himself, the lineup is a nice blend of live electronic and wonky bass music. The announcement video also shows a very sacred process that’s not often caught on camera. Believe it or not, artists are not booked at Red Rocks via email chains with their managers. As it turns out, bottles with invites have been scattered around the world and those who find them get to take the...

US election: Republicans hold back Democrats, narrowing path to Senate control

The battle for power in the Senate tightened into Wednesday as Democrats picked up a seat in Colorado, but suffered a setback in Alabama, and Republicans held their own in high-profile races in South Carolina, Iowa, Texas and Kansas, dramatically narrowing the political map. Republicans fought to retain their Senate majority by turning back a surge of Democrats challenging allies of President Donald Trump, and the Democrats’ various paths to seizing control were growing more limited. With several contests still too early to call, and one Georgia race heading to a January runoff, the final verdict is expected to drag on. Democrats gained a seat when ex-Gov. John Hickenlooper ousted GOP Sen. Cory Gardner in Colorado, a must-win to flip the Senate, but couldn’t hold on in Alabama, where forme...
