Anglican Primate expresses confidence in Enugu governor’s leadership qualities

The 5th Archbishop, Metropolitan and Primate of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Most Rev. Henry Chukwudum Ndukuba, has expressed the Church’s confidence in the leadership qualities of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State. Primate Ndukuba told Gov. Nigerian government approves three power sub-stations for Kano, Benue

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved contracts for the construction of three sub-stations in Kano and Benue States as well as for the extension of transmission lines in Umuahia, Abia State and Mbano, Imo State. The Minister of Power, Engr. Mamman Sale, announced this after the 37th federal virtual cabinet meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday. Sale said council approved the construction of three sub-stations, two in Kano State and one in Benue State. Labour insists on reversal of fuel price, electricity tariff hike

Nigerian government justifies choice of Siemens for power grid expansion

The federal government yesterday defended the choice of German firm, Siemens AG, for its 25,000 megawatts grid expansion, saying the German firm was chosen to expand Nigeria’s power grid because the company was best qualified to rehabilitate the dilapidated electricity infrastructure in Nigeria. The Minister of Power, Mr. Sale Mamman, who disclosed this in series of tweets via his official Twitter handle, explained that the Siemens deal would expand Nigeria’s power grid capacity to 25,000 megawatts. Governor Badaru: Jigawa power transmission substation set for inauguration

Gov. Muhammad Badaru of Jigawa says the 96 megawatts capacity Gagarawa power transmission substation is set for inauguration in three weeks time. The governor, who made this known during an inspection of the substation along with Minister of Power, Mr Saleh Mamman, on Saturday said that the project would propel industrial development in the state. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Federal Government had through the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) awarded the project for construction of 2x60MVA, 132/33kV substation at Gagarawa in 2012. TCN managing director sacked

The Federal Government has removed the Managing Director of the Transmission Company of Nigeria, Usman Gur Mohammed, from office. The Minister of Power, Mohammed Sale, approved of Mohammed’s sack on Tuesday. This was contained in a press statement by the Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Office of the Minister of Power, Aaron Artimas. Artimas also confirmed the authenticity of the statement and appointment of Sule Abdulaziz in acting capacity to newsmen on the telephone.
