LASEMA: Two died, six injured in a four vehicles accident

Two persons died on the spot while four others were seriously injured in an accident along Anthony-inward-Gbagada on Tuesday night in Lagos. The Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed this to newsmen on Wednesday. Oke-Osanyintolu said LASEMA received distress calls on the accident, around 10.30 p.m. on Tuesday. He added that four vehicles were involved in the accident, comprising two tipper-lorries, one petroleum tanker and one commercial bus. Burglars invade late MKO Abiola’s home

The police in Lagos State have arrested some domestic staff at the Ikeja home of the former presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party during the 1993 presidential election, Late Bashorun MKO Abiola in connection with a burglary incident. Some yet to be identified burglars had reportedly invaded his house on Wednesday morning the late politician’s home, where they carted away yet to be quantified things. Eight killed in Kebbi boat mishap

File Photo No fewer than eight people including women and children were drowned following the capsize of a boat at Tungar-Gegero in Jega Local Government Area of Kebbi State. Zamfara government moves against illegal miners

Zamfara state government has warned illegal miners operating in the state despite Federal Government’s ban on mining activities, to desist or face prosecution. Dr Nuruddwen Isah, the state’s Commissioner of Environment, issued the warning on Saturday when he visited one of the suspected illegal mining sites at Sauna village in Talata Mafara local government area of the state. Former Oyo lawmaker arrested over ‘assault’ on APC leader

A former Oyo State House of Assembly member, Mr Wasiu Lafioye Akinmoyede, has been arrested by the police for allegedly assaulting a leader of the All Progressives Congress in Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo State. Akinmoyede, who represented Lagelu State consistency in the 8th Assembly, reportedly broke a chair on the head of a former House of Representatives member and chieftain of APC in the local government, Mr Remi Adebayo. Gunmen kill two in failed kidnap attempt in Kaduna

File Photo Two members of a surrounding community in Juji, Chikun-LGA of Kaduna State lost their lives as suspected kidnappers invaded the community at the late hour on Friday night. The raid in the community, which was said to have started at exactly 11.15pm, kept the residents of the area in fear. Three men in court over ‘N40.3 million furniture theft’

Sahara Reporters Three men appeared in a Magistrates’ Court in Yaba, Lagos, on Thursday over alleged N40.3 million furniture theft. The police charged Owolabi Sikiru, 43, Adeolu Ojedokun, 34, and Yinusa Ejika, 35 with two counts of conspiracy and stealing. They however, pleaded not guilty to the charge. The Prosecutor, ASP Roman Unuigbe, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on Aug. 8, at South Wood Resources and Services Ltd., at No. 23, Owolewa Str., Surulere, Lagos. Five dead in Lagos-Ibadan Expressway accident

The Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps said five persons died while one was injured on Thursday in an accident after Sagamu Interchange, on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, the Ogun Public Relations Officer of TRACE, disclosed this in a statement made available in Ota, Ogun. Akinbiyi said the multiple accident, which happened about 9.30 a.m., was caused by reckless driving and wrongful overtaking. He said three vehicles comprising a Daf tanker with no registration number, a Benz truck marked FST 340 XW, and a Mazda space bus marked GGE 296 DC, were involved in the accident.
