The Metaverse calls: NFTs construct virtual economies to stay relevant in 2022

As NFT projects prepare to embark into the Metaverse, it seems they are pivoting from their static imagery to integrating mechanics that provide utility. Notably, Bored Ape Yacht Club has amassed over $1 billion in total volume and announced a mobile play-and-earn game, while fellow primate projects, CyberKongz and SmolBrains continue to announce and integrate new gamification features to their collections. Investors seem to not only be searching for projects with strong communities and utility, but it appears technical capabilities rank high on the list too. This notion was made evident after Cool Cats’ Cool Pets collection experienced back-to-back hiccups with its launch, and has since been in a downtrend as holders await their reveal. Tusk Ventures CEO: Don’t repeat social media mistakes with Metaverse regulations

Tusk Ventures CEO and founder Bradley Tusk says that the failure to regulate cryptocurrency and social media effectively in the United States is a “really good lesson for how we should handle the Metaverse.” In a Feb. 1 interview on CNBC’s “Closing Bell,” Tusk urged U.S. policymakers to “get ahead” of the Metaverse and implement regulations sooner rather than later. “Typically speaking, our policy has been that we wait for technology to be introduced to gain market fit and traction [before introducing regulation].” However, “It’s very hard to do that retrospectively,” he said. “We know the Metaverse is coming — it’s already here in some ways. We know it’s got all the problems of the internet, probably times five or ten. So why don’t we think about it now, and get ahead of it?” He echoed th...

Doge Temple creator says the Metaverse is out, the Microverse is in

According to the founder and CEO of virtual party platform Party.Space, niche “Microverse experiences” will be the future of the Metaverse. Rather than “building a big Metaverse and selling some land there,” Yurii Filipchuk says that Web3 creators should focus their efforts on “exploring the best way to interact online” with online communities. The idea is that each online community builds its own Microverse, which connect in a shared network to form a Metaverse. Party.Space launched in May 2020 with the idea to gameify video chats. They now work with 65 corporate clients to host conferences, end of year parties, team building events and workshops.
