Lagos NUJ mourns veteran journalist Tony Momoh

YouTube The Lagos State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), has expressed shock over the death of Prince Tony Momoh who passed on at 81. Mr Adeleye Ajayi, the State NUJ Chairman said this in a statement in Lagos on Tuesday. President Muhammadu Buhari has nominated Adolphus Aghughu for appointment as the Auditor-General of the Federation pursuant to Section 86(1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended). Dr. Bolere Elizabeth Ketebu, former Nigerian Ambassador to Ireland is dead. She was 66 years old. Her death was made known by President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday. China possibly committed ‘genocide’ against Xinjiang Muslims

The Congressional-Executive Commission on China (CECC) said on Thursday that new evidence had emerged in the past year that “crimes against humanity – and possibly genocide – are occurring”. Mother, two children burnt to death in Bauchi

A mother and her two children have been burnt to death in a fire disaster that occurred in Riban Garmu village, Dewu Ward in Kirfi Local Government Area of Bauchi State. Four others also sustained varying degrees of injuries. An eyewitness who refused to give his name said that the fire was suspected to be as a result of an electrical fault in the house which burnt it down. He said, “We suspect that there was a spark in the night while people were asleep and that might have caused the fire which burnt the four-bedroom house completely. “Four people sustained injuries and they were admitted at the Kirfi General Hospital where they are receiving treatment,” he said. Rivers taskforce sacks 11 operatives for ‘collecting bribes’

Eleven operatives of the newly formed Rivers Taskforce on Illegal Trading and Motor Parks were sacked on Thursday for collecting bribes from members of the public around Choba area in Obio-Akpor local Government area of the State. The task force members were sacked barely five days after the task force recommence operation. Coordinator of the Taskforce, DSP Felix Nwadibe (retired) who disclosed this in Port Harcourt said they were sacked based on reports and verifiable evidences of misconduct, despite several warnings before the commencement of the new exercise.
