Federal, states, local governments share N651 billion revenue
The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) at the weekend shared a total of N651.184 billion as June 2020 allocation among the federal, states, local governments, and relevant agencies in the country. This is N103.877 million higher than the N547.309 billion shared for the month of May. A communiqué released by the FAAC after its monthly meeting at the weekend for the month of Julne 2020 which was held via virtual conferencing, put gross statutory revenue available at N524.526 billion. According to the communique, the meeting chaired by the Accountant General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, put gross revenue from the Value Added Tax (VAT) at N128.826 billion while revenue from the Exchange Gain was N42.832 billion. The Nigeria Labour Congress has commended the Federal Government for remitting N7.45 billion accrued rights and benefits into the retirement savings accounts of federal retirees covering April and May 2019. Police nab eight suspects for rape, sodomy in Kebbi
The Police Command in Kebbi has arrested seven suspected rapists and one for sodomy in the state. FIRS generates N66 billion from stamp duties
The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has generated the sum of N66 billion from stamp duties between January and May. The FIRS Director, Communications and Liaison Department, Abdullahi Ahmad, made this known in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday. Ahmad said the Executive Chairman of FIRS, Muhammad Nami, disclosed this at the inauguration of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Audit and Recovery of Back Years Stamp Duties and the unveiling of the FIRS Adhesive Stamp in Abuja. Mr Nami said the money realised in the first five months of the year from stamp duties represented about 1,000 per cent increase. The Saudi Arabia government has approved the re-opening of Masjid Al Nabawi, Madinah gradually from Sunday 31 May with precautionary measures.
