Mind-Blowing Mashup Combines Slayer and Prince for “Crazy Black Magic”: Stream

YouTube mashup master Bill McClintock has struck gold once again, combining Slayer and Prince for the mind-blowing “Crazy Black Magic.” Slayer and Prince both rose to prominence in the 1980s, but one would think the musical similarities end there. Somehow, McClintock found a way to perfectly sync Slayer’s proto-blackened thrash anthem “Black Magic” to Prince’s legendary party-starter “Let’s Go Crazy.” Enter “Sprayer,” as McClintock has dubbed this thrash-pop Frankenstein. The Prince backing track plays as usual, but Slayer frontman Tom Araya becomes an exuberant hype man as his screams line up with the chord structure and tempo of “Let’s Go Crazy.” If that’s not enough, there’s even a little Led Zeppelin sprinkled in toward the end. It must be heard to be believed. Advertisement Related Vi...

Crazy Frog Returns After 15 Years With Intergalactic Mashup of Run-DMC’s “It’s Tricky”

Yes, you read that right. Crazy Frog is back in action after a 15-year hiatus with a mashup of the Run-DMC classic, “It’s Tricky.” The new version features Crazy Frog’s signature earworm vocals alongside the iconic lyrics of “It’s Tricky.” While it’s an entirely new release, the song functions as an electronic remix of the original. A music video has also been released alongside the mashup, featuring the blue amphibian himself. Directed by Sigfrid Söderberg and Andreas Wicklund, the video follows Crazy Frog as he escapes a legion of robots in a post-apocalyptic setting, where he eventually finds and hijacks a rocket. A press release issued to announce the track describes it as a commentary on the “Bezos-Musk ego trip” in a jab at ...

Zedd Mashed Up “Squid Game” With ACRAZE’s Hit “Do It To It” in One of EDC’s Most Surreal Moments: Watch

If you’ve been online lately, odds are your timeline has been filled with nothing but EDC Las Vegas and Squid Game. Over the weekend, Zedd managed to merge the two in one of the most viral moments of the music festival. During his Sunday night performance on the cosmicMeadow stage, the Grammy-winning Clarity producer dropped an unexpected mashup, blending the now-iconic theme song from Netflix’s runaway hit show with ACRAZE‘s breakout house anthem “Do It To It.” The distinct, ominous keys from the theme of the record-breaking show were brilliantly mixed with ACRAZE’s hit single, which DJ Snake deemed “the song of the summer”earlier this year. In true mega-festival fashion, eerie visuals from Squid Game were melded with Zedd’s logo befor...

Someone Released a Full Album of Daft Punk and Michael Jackson Mashups

It’s somewhat of a golden rule to not mess with a good thing. But what about two? When it comes to music, mashup maestro Calb is a pro at rearranging cult-classic albums into interdisciplinary works of art. His latest project, Thriller Access Memories, is an electrifying synthesis Daft Punk‘s Random Access Memories and Michael Jackson‘s Thriller.  Out August 3rd, Thriller Access Memories weaves together the dazzling instrumentals of RAM with Jackson’s vocals. Its resulting tracks, with names like “Instant Billie Jean” and “Fragments of Beat It,” are scintillating blends of disco and pop, built from beats and lyrics you probably already know by heart. The bright and dreamy closer, “I Feel Human Nature,&...

This Ridiculous Slipknot vs. Daft Punk Mashup Actually Works

Unexpected musical mashups became a staple of the Internet sometime in the early 2010s and have provided many laughs since. It’s hard to forget about Isosine’s viral 2011 “Psychosocial Baby” mashup of Justin Bieber and Slipknot, in which he laced the iconic masked metal band’s aggressive vocals over the happy-go-lucky pop beat of Bieber’s bubblegum hit “Baby.” The video has garnered well over 17 million views in the last decade. Now, YouTuber William Maranci has taken it upon himself to harness Slipknot‘s seminal “Psychosocial” for a 2021 mashup with none other than one of Daft Punk‘s greatest hits, “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger.” Recommended Articles Sure, it’s absolutely ridiculou...

YouTuber Masterfully Performs Depeche Mode’s “Personal Jesus” as a Motörhead Song: Watch

YouTuber Denis Pauna imagines an alternate universe where hit songs were recorded by different artists. For his latest hypothetical, Pauna pondered, “What if Motörhead wrote ‘Personal Jesus’ by Depeche Mode?’” That’s the title of the Croatian musician’s latest pseudo-mashup cover. As if to discover the answer to his own question, he dressed up in full Motörhead regalia — even donning Lemmy Kilmister’s signature mutton chops — and played Depeche Mode’s classic in the vein of the British heavy metal pioneers. As Pauna proves, if Motörhead had written “Personal Jesus”, it would have still been an awesome song. Over a propulsive riff and the crushing Kilmister bass tone — all played by Pauna himself — hearing the chorus rendered through his spot-on Lemmy bark is truly satisfying. It made us cu...

Girl Talk Returns with New Song “Fallin’” Featuring Bas: Stream

Mashup pro and general party staple Girl Talk has returned with another new song up his sleeve. This time, he’s sharing “Fallin’”, a fresh collaboration he made with the Queens-based rapper Bas. This is the second time the two have linked up, following their track “Outta Pocket” for Dreamville’s Revenge of the Dreamers III. Apparently Girl Talk learned about Bas after stumbling across his album Too High to Riot in 2016 and getting hooked. “I was really into his range. He’s a technical rapper who also has an amazing melodic sense,” said Gregg Gillis, the artist behind the moniker, in a statement. “It’s kind of difficult to define his style, which is something I always admire. When we linked up, I had a wide variety of beats ready for him. This was the first one that I played, and he w...

Metal Trump Sings Iron Maiden’s “Run to the Hills” and It’s Terrifying: Watch

YouTuber Lars von Retriever has done it again! For his latest “Metal Trump” video, he has cut up the president’s dialogue to match the Iron Maiden classic “Run to the Hills” — and the results are frankly terrifying, albeit impressive. Given Trump’s flippant remarks, stubborn denial, and generally abhorrent reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic, the songs refrain — coming from Trump’s mouth — hits a little close to home: “Run to the hills/ Run for your life“. Iron Maiden wrote “Run to the Hills” for 1982’s The Number of the Beast as a historical concept piece about the genocide of Native Americans and indigenous people by North American settlers. “White man came across the sea/ He brought us pain and misery,” sings frontman Bruce Dickinson in the original track. Odd words coming out of Trump, t...
