Las Vegas music festival Life Is Beautiful set the internet ablaze this week after suggesting the “aliens” behind the AREA21 duo are landing in Sin City for their first-ever live performance. Posting a visual of a neon prism, Life Is Beautiful told fans “they’ve landed and this isn’t the only clue they’ve left.” The inclusion of the prism is significant given AREA21’s recurring use of the symbol in all of their recent cover art. The festival’s flyer also features a holding spot near the top for what will be a major special guest, which lends credence to the suggestion that Martin Garrix and Maejor‘s collaborative alias could be the act to fit the bill. Life Is Beautiful kicked off yesterday, September 17th, so...

Fans are yearning for the soaring, euphoric riffs characteristic of the iconic house music singles that dominated the early 2010s. At least, that’s one interpretation of a new EDM.com social media poll. When we asked the fans which classic dance music single needed some 2021 remix magic, nearly 20,000 nostalgic respondents weighed in. By a wide margin, electronic music fans felt Swedish House Mafia‘s swan song, “Don’t You Worry Child” could use a resurgence. The single was among the first dance tracks at the time to land on major metropolitan pop radio stations, unifying fans across the globe in the process. Simultaneously, we sullenly counted down to the conclusion of the group’s One Last Tour, which felt like the definitive end to an era. Li...

When it comes to glow-ups, many of us have the luxury of burying all evidence of our braces and bowl cuts deep in the depths of old family albums. But for the celebrities, it’s inevitable for photos from the vault to pop up now and then. So what did some of our favorite electronic artists look like before they were main stage headliners? From childhood portraits to pre-fame head-shots, we’ve gone digging for mementos from the pasts of Alison Wonderland, Flume, RL Grime, and other dance music superstars. Complete with swooping side bangs, toothy smiles and early 2010s rave attire, they remind us that not too long ago, these artists were just like us. Let’s take a trip back in time. In April, Martin Garrix and Maejor announced that they would be dropping a full album under their collaborative AREA21 alias. Since announcing the LP, we’ve received a taste of what’s to come with “La La La” and “POGO.” Today they’ve dropped the latest single from their forthcoming project, “Mona Lisa.” In a similar fashion to their previous two singles, “Mona Lisa” embraces a pop-leaning sound while incorporating various electronic elements. It’s reminiscent of a feel-good summer night, as a plucky electric bass is accompanied by upbeat percussion and Maejor’s signature vocals. “Mona Lisa” is the third single from AREA21’s forthcoming album, which currently has no title or relea...
