Manchester United

Paris, Manchester or Milan? Sergio Ramos has a few, but great, opportunities.

It’s official – Sergio Ramos will no longer play for Real Madrid, and the club captain will say his final goodbye later today. Purchased for €27 million in 2005 from Sevilla at just 19-years-old, Ramos has been at Madrid for 16 seasons – a period that has seen him play 671 games, score 101 goals, win five La Liga titles and four European Cups. At 35, he had been looking for a contract extension of two years and no salary deduction. The club had been asking all its players to accept a 10% salary reduction in light of the pandemic and had been unwilling to offer more than a year on the contract. As late as a week ago, sources suggested that Ramos was willing to accept a one-year contract extension and even possibly a lower salary, but perhaps not to the level of what Madrid were offering. Wh...

Report confirms Manchester United have made a move for experienced La Liga ace

Manchester United have apparently made their move to sign the former Tottenham Hotspur defender Kieran Trippier. According to the Guardian, Atletico Madrid have turned down the first official proposal from the Red Devils and they value the defender at £34.4 million. Manchester United could certainly use more depth in the full-back positions and Trippier can play on both flanks. Furthermore, he is much more effective going forward as compared to Aaron Wan-Bssaka and he would probably be an instant starter at Old Trafford. Trippier picked up six assists in La Liga this past season. The 30-year-old helped Atletico Madrid win the Spanish league title this past season and he did reasonably well as a left-back during England’s opening Euro 2020 game against Croatia last Sunday. Sergio Ramos to leave Real Madrid this summer

Real Madrid have confirmed that club captain Sergio Ramos will leave this summer. Ramos, 35, is out of contract at Real this summer, and had been expected to sign a new deal. The centre-back’s usual summer transfer dalliances with the likes of Manchester United have usually been a smokescreen to negotiate better terms at the Bernabeu. However, this time Ramos is officially on the lookout for a new club, with the defender leaving the team he has been with since 2005. Ramos arrived at the Bernabeu 16 years ago following a switch from Sevilla and went on to have a glittering career. He won five La Liga titles, four Champions League crowns as well as the Copa Del Rey twice. It was during his time in the Spanish capital that he also won the 2010 World Cup with Spain along with back-to-back Euro...

Cristiano Ronaldo is unconcerned over Juventus future

Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo insists his sole focus is on Euro 2020 and reports of interest from rival clubs are causing him no “sleepless nights”. Ronaldo left Real Madrid for Juve in 2019, but the move has not worked out quite as planned. Although the Bianconeri won the Serie A title for a ninth successive season in the forward’s first campaign, they lost their crown to Inter this term and scraped Champions League qualification. Success in Europe’s premier club competition, which Ronaldo won five times with Manchester United and Madrid, continues to evade the Turin giants. A frustrating season ended with Massimiliano Allegri returning to replace Andrea Pirlo, and there has been speculation Ronaldo could follow his coach out of the door. Madrid, United and Paris Saint-Germain have...

Manchester United suffer blow with €60m defensive target keen on Paris Saint-Germain move – report

Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane could snub interest from Manchester United to return to France with Paris Saint-Germain. The centre-back has spent the past decade with Los Blancos, but he could be on the move with his contract expiring in June next year. United have been heavily linked with his services, but El Confidencial claims that the Frenchman is keen on returning to his homeland this summer. The Red Devils have monitored him closely over the years, but Varane is reportedly leaning towards moving to Ligue 1 with PSG. Los Blancos are holding out for around €60 million to sanction the defender’s sale but could be willing to lower their price tag up to €50m. Sportslens view: United are searching for a new centre-back partner for Harry Maguire, and Varane would be a world-c...

Report claims what 28-year-old has told his club amid interest from Arsenal & West Ham

Jesse Lingard wants to continue at Manchester United.  The 28-year-old was struggling for regular games last season and joined West Ham on loan in the second half of the campaign. The move turned into a huge success, as he scored nine goals and provided four assists in 16 Premier League games for the Hammers. West Ham, understandably want to sign Lingard on a permanent deal, and the England winger hasn’t ruled out a potential move. Arsenal are also reportedly keen to sign Lingard. Back in April, The Sun reported that the Gunners are planning to sign him, with leading Emirates bosses having made tentative inquiries about him. Lingard has just 12 months left on his current contract, but United have an option to extend his deal to another year. He has now reportedly informed Ole Gun...

Man City star tests positive for Covid19 ahead of Euros game, Man Utd man replaces him

According to Portuguese outlet Record, Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo has tested positive for the coronavirus, and his Manchester United counterpart Diogo Dalot will now replace him in the squad. Portugal kick off their Euro 2020 campaign against Hungary on Tuesday, and the Man City star has now been put in isolation. The country’s players and coaching crew were tested on Saturday, and they all tested negative except for Cancelo. The Man City defender played a huge role as Pep Guardiola’s side won the Premier League and League Cup in 2020-21, and Portugal were relying on him to replicate those excellent performances at the Euros. However, they have been dealt a huge blow in their attempts to defend their European Championship title and will now look to count on Dalot. The Man Utd fu...

Real Madrid offered chance to sign £40.5m-rated Manchester United star on initial loan – report

Real Madrid have been offered the chance to sign Manchester United forward Anthony Martial through his representative, reputed journalist Duncan Castles claims. The Frenchman had a disappointing 2020/21 campaign with the Red Devils, registering just seven goals from 36 appearances in all competitions. It is now reported that manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is willing to part ways with the attacker to make room for the arrival of an elite forward. The club are willing to offload him on loan with the option to buy. Martial’s agent has made contact with Los Blancos to find out whether they are interested. Sportslens view: Martial has his best-ever return for United in 2019/2020, registering 23 goals from 38 appearances in all competitions. However, he struggled to find consistency last term and ...

La Liga giants set €40m price tag for defender after learning Manchester United’s interest – report

Atletico Madrid have set an asking price of €40 million for defender Kieran Trippier amid interest from Manchester United, reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano claims. Trippier was on United’s radar in January, but they cooled their interest after the right-back was handed an eight-week ban by FIFA for breaching betting rules. The Red Devils have now revived their pursuit of the England international, but it appears that they could be put off by the hefty price tag of Atletico. The La Liga champions reportedly rejected a €12m bid from them this week. They have no intention to sell the defender for anything less than €40m. Sportslens view: Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been United’s undisputed right-back in recent years under Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, and he has been superb defensively. Ho...

Since then, he has played 199 times in all competitions, scoring 38 goals. Pogba’s time at Man Utd has been mixed The Frenchman has been a divisive figure since his reunion with the Red Devils. Inconsistent performances, coupled with ambiguous hints surrounding his future, have seen him become unpopular among some sections of the Old Trafford crowd. Nonetheless, there is no denying his incredible talent. And, with just a year left on his current contract, it would be a nightmare for the club to lose a player like him on a free transfer. Sky Sports state that Man Utd have now opened negotiations with Pogba over a ...

£54m-rated star breaks silence on his Man United future, responds to Paris Saint-Germain link

French midfielder Paul Pogba has said that Manchester United have yet to make a concrete contract proposal to him. The 28-year-old has just one year left on his deal, and it was recently claimed that discussions were underway over an extension. However, Pogba has emphasised that is not the case, and negotiations will be held following his return to the club after Euro 2020. He told RMC Sport: “I have one year left on my contract, everyone knows that. There have been no concrete proposals for extensions. I’m still in Manchester. “After the season there was the vacation, so I didn’t sit down with the managers and coach. I’m focused on the Euro.” Meanwhile, when asked about possible interest from Paris Saint-Germain, Pogba said that his agent deals with the transfer proceedings. He added that...
