GRiZ and LSDREAM Drop Space Bass Banger, “Funkonaut”

GRiZ and LSDREAM have teamed up for a massive collab, taking fans on a funk-filled space expedition with “Funkonaut.” Debuted last December at GRiZ’s inaugural Space Camp event at Virginia’s Hampton Coliseum, “Funkonaut” fuses GRiZ’s signature sound with LSDREAM’s unique brand of space bass. The result is a wonky, thrilling banger that perfectly encapsulates the unique styles of its creators. GRiZ and LSDREAM Announce Release Date of Long-Awaited Collab, “Funkonaut”

Fans of GRiZ and LSDREAM can finally mark their calendars for the release of “Funkonaut,” the first-ever collab from the bass-funk masterminds. The two debuted their upcoming track in late December 2021, appearing onstage together at GRiZ’s Space Camp event in Virginia. That’s when fans got the first taste of “Funkonaut,” a wobbly record that blends elements of dubstep and trap music with the psychedelic hallmarks of GRiZ’s and LSDREAM’s respective sounds. Over the weekend, GRiZ hosted a massive two-day takeover of the Hampton Coliseum called Space Camp. With performances from CloZee, Liquid Stranger, Moore Kismet, and more, fans were blasted into the depths of the galaxy through the carefully curated lineup. A highlight from the weekend that fans have been talking about nonstop was when GRiZ brought out LSDREAM to debut a never-before-heard collaboration. Summer Camp Music Festival celebrated its 20th anniversary last weekend at Chillicothe, Illinois’ Three Sisters Park. The Midwest electronic and jam gathering was initially postponed from 2020 to 2021, then later rescheduled its annual Memorial Day celebration to mid-August. Despite the high temperatures and relentless humidity, the festival saw its highest attendance to date, bringing 25,000 Scampers to get down to sets by GRiZ, Tipper, STS9, REZZ, The Floozies, CloZee, Emancipator, Boogie T and more throughout its four-day event. LSDREAM is charting the course for his his third full-length album, aptly titled PEACE LOVE & WUBZ. The dubstep and experimental bass music star recently announced the new LP, but stopped short of sharing a release date. However, he did unveil the album’s titular track, a mind-bending banger blending elements of trap and funk. In addition to disco-inspired synths and filthy bass patches, “PEACE LOVE & WUBZ” also flaunts verses from Cojaxx, a rapper and hip-hop artist who has performed as 12th Planet’s MC. Following a year devoid of music festivals thanks to the wrath of COVID-19, GRiZ is primed for a triumphant return with the announcement of his own curated fest. The electro-funk superstar has announced the debut of Space Camp, a bass music-fueled two-night festival at Virginia’s fabled Hampton Coliseum in December 2021. GRiZ will perform two different live sets alongside a number of his electronic music contemporaries, including CloZee, Liquid Stranger, LSDream, Chee, Common Creation, Kumarion, and EDM.com Class of 2021 artists Lucii and Moore Kismet. This September, fans will hit the beach for four days of music and art in Southern California. Following the postponement of their 2020 event due to COVID-19 concerns, the organizers of Summer Camp Music Festival have announced the lineup for its 2021 edition. The Chillicothe, Illinois fest is set to take place May 28th to 30th, 2021 and features an expansive lineup of major electronic music artists, funk acts, rappers, and more. All of the headliners that were announced prior to the postponement are returning except for GRiZ. Even without bass music’s de facto funk master general, the genre is well-represented, as REZZ, Snails, CloZee, WHIPPED CREAM, Boogie T, Moody Good, and LSDREAM are primed for appearances, among others.
