A report from the Department of Justice revealed that its investigation of the Louisville Metro Police Department showed that it exhibited constant racial abuse of its Black citizens and those with behavioral issues. The 90-page report showed that officers routinely hurled racial epithets and utilized excessive force, particulalry against those protesting the death of Breonna Taylor in 2020. Harlow has issued a statement regarding the shooting after his DJ, Ronnie O’Bannon, was indicted this past Tuesday on charges of murder and tampering with physical evidence. Local outlet WDRB reports that the 27-year-old O’Bannon, also known as DJ Ronnie Luciano, was connected to the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Kasmira Nash on May 1 at Vibes Restaurant and Ultra Lounge. One of the Louisville police officers who shot Black emergency medical technician Breonna Taylor, and the officer that prepared the warrant for the botched raid during which she was killed, were told on Tuesday that the department aimed to fire them. Taylor’s death when police entered her apartment in Louisville, Kentucky, early on March 13 was one of a string of killings of African Americans that fueled mass protest demonstrations across the United States in 2020. Taylor’s boyfriend, who was with her when police burst into the home, fired once at what he said he believed were intruders. Family of Breonna Taylor Settle Wrongful Death Lawsuit For $12 Million

However, they have reached a settlement in the wrongful death civil suit filed against the city of Louisville. According to CNN, the family of Taylor and the city reached a $12 million settlement in the wrongful death case six months after the 26-year old EMT was murdered in her home while she slept.
