Chicago-based duo Louis The Child teamed up with rising singer/songwriter BabyJake for their newest single, “Somewhere Else.” The song premiered on YouTube with a soulful music video that was filmed at California’s beautiful Mammoth Mountain. Detailed on their Instagram story as a blessing in disguise, their original plans to shoot the music video were canceled due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. This forced them to pivot and explore Mammoth for a few days, scouting different locations finally resulting in their exhilarating masterpiece. The dynamic vocals of BabyJake tell a story about the frustrating challenge of working hard to become a better person, yet still feeling off-track. That internal struggle is expressed throughout the song with a roaring, saturated bass and rioto...

Growing up in Batavia, Illinois, a Chicago suburb with a population of just over 26,000, photographer and videographer Colin Miller never imagined the adventures his camera would take him on. Now one of the many renowned artists for Louis the Child, one of electronic music’s fastest rising acts, Miller has been on stage and behind the scenes at the world’s biggest festivals and venues, traveling in the fast lane alongside the duo’s members, Robby Hauldren and Freddy Kennett, who became some of his closest friends. Just this month, Miller added another notch to his portfolio’s already supersized belt— directing the visual companion for Candy 2, the long-anticipated 36-minute beat tape released by Louis the Child on October 2nd, 2020. Composed of sweeping landscapes, psychedelic color i...

If you purchase one of their limited edition Candy II chocolate bars, you have the chance of winning one of five golden tickets, which offer a free VIP concert experience to any headline show when concerts return. To announce the new contest, the duo took to their socials to share a hilarious “JibJab” version of themselves as Grandpa Joe and Charlie. With today’s release of their Candy 2 beat tape, superstar producer duo Louis the Child has launched their sound beyond the norm, finally sharing a unique, genre-fluid point of view poised to launch an entire wave of contemporaries. Returning to the group’s mid-2010s roots of experimental sound design and bubbly synth arrangements, this new Interscope Records-facilitated project starts exactly where their original Candy beat tape left off. Released way back in 2017, that mix’s concluding instrumental, “Vibeys5,” has been renamed “The Sh*T” and used to launch Candy 2 with a fun, nostalgic twist. It’s the perfect jumping off point for the whopping 19-track project, with songs spanning from 43 seconds in length to ...
Louis The Child are showing fans a new side of them after dropping “Fresh Juice,” a monster trap collaboration with TroyBoi. Known to champion trap music in their live sets, the duo have tapped one of the genre’s most popular producers to mutate their future pop sound into bona fide sonic boom. They employ nasty bass patches in the drop, which are akin to Skrillex‘s post-dubstep sound design of yesteryear. TroyBoi’s influence in “Fresh Juice” is also undeniable, especially in the break, which features eerie Middle Eastern-inspired vocal swells. Check out the new collaborative single below, which also came with a trippy animated video. Along with the release of “Fresh Juice” came another single called “Keep Moving.” Loui...
Over the weekend, Louis The Child teased the release of their upcoming Candy 2 mixtape. Through a series of Instagram photos, they shared a look at what will seemingly become a visual companion to the mixtape. Not-so-coincidentally, Whethan took to Twitter around the same time and announced that he “may or may not” have a new track with the duo on the way sometime next month. While it’s not quite an official confirmation, fans have already begun to put two and two together, as the trio dropped a collaboration on the last Candy mixtape. To stoke the flames even further, Whethan followed up the original tweet with candy emojis. At the time of writing, there is no specific release date or title for the Whethan and Louis The Child collaboration in question. On the bright side...

Released exclusively on SoundCloud in 2017, the original Candy was a 25 minute-long compilation of unreleased samples and songs by Louis the Child, featuring additional tracks made with frequent collaborators Whethan and Bearson. Paired with a visual companion, Louis the Child have made it clear this video counterpart will be a factor for Candy 2 as well. Nevada’s Valley of Fire State Park was even shared as a potential location. For a...
